Notes: There are three San Marcos locations; one of them is near my house and the other is near work, so who cares where the third one is.

I've ordered lots of different things here, but I tend to get the camarones el diablo (hot shrimp), huevos rancheros, or enchiladas. I've never picked anything bad here. The setup cheese is closer to real cheese than cheese water like some of the cheaper places. Everything about San Marchos is just a little bit nicer than most other places. The tables are covered in ceramic tiles, the help is nice, and the beer is super cold. No complaints about this place at all.

Summary: Old school Mexican food with old school prices.

Location: Off Main street in the oldest part of town.

Free Setup: Salsa, chips, (only) corn tortillas and relish. No free cheese.
Free Sopapillas: Yes. And they're good.
Seating: 12 booths (6 down each side) with 3 tables down the middle.
Staff: Mostly family run, with occasional help.
Ordered: Full order of meat and cheese nachos.
Value: Awesomely inexpensive, and cash only.

Notes: Poquito de Mexico (or simply Poquitos) has been open since the early 80s and hasn't changed much since then. It's more Mexican than Tex-Mex, but it's very very good and very very cheap. The nachos I get every time are like $3. The same guy has been waiting on me since I first started going there in 1985. They also have cold beer in big beer goblets. This is not a bright and shiny Tex-Mex place with a ton of food where everything is brand new (there's still a payphone hanging on the wall next to the front door) but it's really cheap and really good. Also as I mentioned they are cash only, but there's an ATM next door at the bank so if you didn't know it was cash only you can just leave, go get money, and come back and pay.

Location: Main street in Yukon. Ample parking. Far from the interstate, which also means not very busy. Dim lighting inside.

Free Setup: Chips, cheese, salsa, tortillas. Salsa was not spicy at all. Cheese was good. The chips were very light and thin and broke easily.
Free Sopapillas: Yes. Smaller than most places.
Seating: 6 tables, 12 booths.
Staff: 2 waiters, 1 host. No women anywhere.
Ordered: Huevos Ranchero.
Value: Averaged $10/person for a meal and an iced-tea.

Notes: We wanted to go to Poquito's de Mexico today but they were closed so we ended up here. The previous owner shot his wife in the kitchen, so it was closed for a while but now it's open again. I would describe this place as simply average. Nothing was bad but nothing was exciting. If you close your eyes real hard you can imagine exactly what a burrito or enchiladas look like here. This isn't our first choice for Mexican, but it's normal and never crowded.

In this thread I will review local Mexican restaurants as I visit them. I will be covering all the ones in Yukon, Oklahoma and some of the ones in Oklahoma City.

At some point in this thread I will get mad at Paul for explaining to us all where Mexico is on a map or telling a story related to Montezuma's Revenge. I'll just go ahead and apologize for that in advance. Also at some point Pinback and RetroRomper will try and explain the difference between New Mexican food, traditional Mexican food, Tex-Mex food, and everything else. I'll apologize for that in advance as well.
