See? A person's ideology or political leanings didn't need to factor into it at all. Alisa: BACK ON!

I define it as, if my wife and kid are out of the house, and I am looking at it, are my pants on or off.

Much like pornography, I can't define chili, but I know it when I see it.

I'd think the only absolute requirements would be, it has to be a stew-like dish, with no pieces bigger than, say, an inch in diameter, and some variety of chile (ground or fresh) must be present.

But since we will be judging primarily based on 1) photographic evidence, and 2) the cook's own opinion, such definitions may be unnecessary.

Hold your horses.

Do we need to discuss what reasonably is and is not to be considered chili beforehand? However, I fear we would be talking until we were blue (like this BBS) in the face. Perhaps we should simply let our chili imaginations run wild. You want a small scoop of brown rice? Do it. Thinking of subbing beef with lean turkey and chopped Kroger-brand "Woohoo!" mushrooms? Have at it, Chef Stupefy.

We should also include aftermath and rebuilding. Some extra spicy chilli may be awesome while consuming but leave a bloody mess on the battlefield the next morning.

You just make the chili and post pictures, and be honest about how good it was.

But it needs to be scheduled. When should CHILI WAR I take place? (The "I" in the title should always be pronounced, "eye".)

So do we just make the chili and post pictures or should we mail samples to you for judging?
