Surprisingly recreational marijuana is not yet legal in N.Y. so we have to assume Aardvark has a doctor's note or he's familiar with Jay street downtown.
And even if it was, our new Attorney General Jeff Sessions has decided to cancel the Obama Administration guidelines which said the Federal Government was not going to prosecute users or sellers who complied with state law in states where it has been legalized. This despite the fact Donald Trump has stated he wanted to make this a state issue, where it was legal in certain states people would be free to use and sell it, subject to the usual restrictions, e,g. not selling to minors, etc.
AG Sessons is of the opinion that marijuana is
worse than heroin. While many people have overdosed on heroin, the total number of people who have died or been injured from an overdose of marijuana in recorded history still stands at 0.0. This is also contravening certain assurances he gave the Congressional committee during his confirmation hearing, as stated by one of the members of Congress from the State of Colorado.
Congress needs to bite the bullet and admit prior policy has been wrong, and remove marijuana from Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act, which is supposed to be for drugs which are considered to have no legitimate medical use.
