I just learned for i'm sure the first time that if you win over $1M at the casino then the Casino kicks you out and the FBI takes $250k from you. Oh well, I've got 2 cars each in 3 cities and a clone so now time to actually get good at driving. Also, the car configurator is great. For movement, I went with the #2 mouse control because I haven't had a pc joystick since Carmageddon.

Also, I think it's kind of insulting that they have Albany, Syracuse, and Buffalo and even Scranton but NO Rochester. Fuck them for that.

I got a little joystick from Hong Kong that I'll post a picture of, so I was able to play this. And I love how the open world-ness of it goes - there is a lot of money and a lot of time spent on doing things that Autoduel just had a menu with numbers for selections with. Like many Apple games I am finding that it's this weird combination of joystick and keyboard controls - it's joystick to control the guy and the car, but they don't want you scrolling up or down to make selections on menus, it's all keyboard. I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

Save Scummer

Finally downloaded Autoduel from some abondonware site to play while i watched Babylon 5 on the other monitor. It's got to be 15 years since I've played this thing and ill still say my fond memories are valid. I guess I've always loved open world type games and this was one if my first. After a half hour trying various strategies i remembered that this was the first game I used a save point to cheat.

Gambling is the #1 way to get money in Autoduel and i thought i remembered that blackjack was the way to win quick. Wrong. Pretty even money anyway you play blackjack. The key i re-stumbled upon was poker. There's a huge chance of getting at least one pair and an acceptable chance of two pair or better. So just go into the casino and bet all your money on a hand and play until you lose.

Here's the cheat: if you lose a hand and all your money just ctrl-alt-del and kill the game (or whatever it took earlier). Start up the game and continue your player who autosaved at the bus station into town. When you win always save your winnings by taking a bus out and back to town and in a few minutes you have over $880k and can buy all the badass cars you want.
