$300 for the same Atari games we all already have on Mame? Huh, well I don't think my discretionary funds will be going towards this. I mean, it's just a gamepad, it doesn't even have a cool retro look. You could put it on a coffee table and nobody would blink twice at it, it just looks like a PS4 controller.
At least the mini NES and the C64 mini LOOKED like sonething.
It's actually a console. The picture above of a guy holding a controller is just a picture of a guy holding the controller.
On their website, Atari says that the new VCS plays 100s of Atari games, plus streams games from Antstream and comes with Chrome built in. Which... makes it a PC? I believe all the Atari games it plays are included in Atari Vault, which is available for $9.99 on Steam. This is a case of someone cashing in on nostalgia and little more. The thing is stuck in pre-order hell because Atari is making a million times more off of selling NFTs than they will ever make off this thing. Once Windows 10 stops supporting this thing you'll be able to buy them for $50 or less at a garage sale. The pre-order price is still $399, which is about $100 more than a refurbished PS4 costs on eBay. What a joke.
