President Bush remarked recently during a speech near a wildfire area that the best way to combat wildfires in the future was to “thin out” forests so there wasn’t as much flammable material that could possibly ignite. The President went on to say that dense undergrowth was dangerous and that limited logging could help protect the wilderness.
Well I’ll tell you, something’s dense and dangerous in that country but it sure as hell isn’t the undergrowth.
Go and make a nice pot of raspberry tea, bake some muffins, and wait to find out what pulp and paper companies are fed the contracts to help “save the American wilderness” from idiots who can’t put out fires properly. That is, unless lightning’s to blame. Then that would fall under the jurisdiction of the NSA or NASA I would imagine. There’s always the chance that al-Qaeda operatives could be running amok setting these fires. So this may just be a job for the Office Of Homeland Security.
Nice: Well I’ll tell you, something’s dense and dangerous in that country but it sure as hell isn’t the undergrowth.
