Drama so far:
o One author removed his game from the competition already. I guess it was pretty buggy, but also in German. The IF Comp tends to be dominated by English players, so it probably wasn't going to get too many votes anyway.
o Nobody can figure out how to play the Adrift game, which by the way, is one of the most complex games in the competition, at least according to its author.
o The competition was listed on Slashdot! Which is good, but at the same time I've always wondered if it would be a better thing if, say, 10 IF veterans all teamed up in a handpicked, invite-only competition and got that Slashdotted. The thing I really worry about (and I was part of the problem in this for CDJ) is that a few thousand people jump on the IF Comp games, poke around, don't see anything particularly compelling or outstanding in the three games out of 60 that they try and forget about the hobby forever. I think it would do the hobby a lot of good if a ten-pack release suite came around with proven sorts.
(Course, everyone hates "The Cabal." Er, the concept, not the game of the same name.)
