State of the BBS Address

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Tue Aug 20, 2002 11:26 am

I briefly mentioned something to this effect in the Troll Room last night, but it bears repeating: it's rather obvious that I have not been giving the BBS the proper comedic attention as of late, as well as the www site. This shall shortly change.

There is, though, a good reason for it. I have been working on getting a new graphical text adventure ready for beta-test. It's somewhat like Fallacy of Dawn, in so much as it is intended to be funny, but doesn't have any computer piracy jokes or references. It's starting to all come together as of late -- certainly I could have had the thing finished by now but truth to tell I just couldn't get any work done on it for a lot of the summer, until I got hold of some A/C. That's pretty sad, but I'm attempting to make amends for it presently.

After that, there will be the Trotting Krips' take on the 2002 Interactive Fiction competition. I am not planning on entering this year, but what I would like to do is try to give every game a write-up. I'm usually exhausted when it comes to IF after getting a game ready for the fall comp, so consequently I don't have the energy to play through every last game in six weeks and jot down my thoughts in some kind of coherent form. But this year should be different.

So all that, in addition to the (in my opinion) really fun discussions we were having on the computer games of the moment that I'll have some additional time to get into again. Ideally, this would also become a quality, alternate place on the internet to libel Larry "Clash" Trask of www.larrytrask.com fame, for no adequately explained or explored reason. I think that would have some potential.

Thanks again for everyone who has been checking out the BBS as of late, and for sticking with it through this rather contentless time period.

Signed,
