Shout out...

by milker » Mon Oct 22, 2007 12:46 pm

I would like to give a shout out to my dead homies!

I would like to give a shout out to Bill Gates for making it possible for my friend Robb to have an Xbox.

I would like to give a shout out to Easy E, cause EZ does it!

Thanks!

I am averaging a speed between shit and jack.

The bad news is that when I woke up today, it was still transfering Star Control II.

The good news is that I got 4 hours of sleep, so it was only like another 4 hours, then.

I hope (?) it will be done by the time I get home? This also lets me do a shout-out to Vitriola: I plugged the Xbox into a network cable downstairs, so that probably needs to be left on. If you want to watch any TV today, you just need to flip it back over to the TV as per normal.

If you want to play any STAR CONTROL II, unfortunately honey we both have to wait. It could be days. But I did this for you, sweetheart!

I just used a special program to transfer shit to my PS2 with a crossover cable, and it's about 2mbps. What the hell are you averaging?

I have answers.

1) The executable was self extracting, into shit I needed to dump into my Xbox.

2) FTPing shit over to my Xbox is the slowest fucking thing in the world. It's been going ALL NIGHT. For fuckin' Star Control II.

3) Halfway into it, I read the readme.txt for this thing. It says that there is a bug that kills the game right before the final battle. Jesus Christ.

On the other hand, if this ever finishes, I will upload the Xbox Media Center to it. I have 30 days to trial FlashFXP... I'll need every moment!

I'm not even being sarcastic. This does happen. Dumb fucks. Even when they are unpaid fourteen year olds, the distributors for video games find a way to fuck it up. On the other hand, the guys who threw this version of SC2 out there immediately got offered management positions with 2K Games.
The best thing is when I download a torrent that is a split rar archive of a sevenzip, because people who snatch usenet releases are too dumb to realize split rar archives are ONLY USEFUL on usenet. People using 7zip at all on torrents is annoying, it's like yeah it downloads faster, but not faster than it takes to unzip.

Why don't you try to sell us cockrides instead?
Oh, the cockrides are much, much more valuable than a lousy PS3.

Yeah, I gotta get a hold of that Blitz game.

"A guy is leaving a club and sees Lawrence Taylor leaving the place down the street, with a hooker. The guy says, "You're fucking Lawrence Taylor!" And the hooker yells out, "No, I'm fucking Lawrence Taylor!!"

Audience: laughs

I the last two weeks I have played three football games for the Xbox.

Coming in at #3:

All Pro Football 2K8!
Seemed alright, less complicated than Madden, but felt like it was three years old.

Coming in at #2:
Madden 2008!
I only played it for 30 minutes because it was too complicated, but I could tell that if I understood football, and could remember the fifty-seven different control options, it could be fun.

And, coming in at #1 by a wide, WIDE, WIDE margin:
Blitz: The League!
Eight guys per team. Foul language. Steroids. Hookers. Now THAT's the football I want to know and love!

Are you trying to sell us a Playstation 3, whose lone title is an unsanctioned football game?

Why don't you try to sell us cockrides instead?

good. you forgot to call me a snarky bastid.
i've been a right asshole lately, all while maxin and relaxin.

to make up for your lack of insulting me, you could purchase my oldskool (already!?) ps3 with backwards compatibility.

i have a game waiting to be picked up @ best buy for it.. "All-Pro football 2K8". i'll probably play it once.. maybe twice since it's not madden.

gawd, what kind of warez rat have i become? i'm a jaded ex warez rat or something.Quick, someone email me a pirated copy of Duke3D to make me feel better.

I understand now. So apparently, someone took the iso for Star Control II, turned it into a self-extracting .exe file for zero savings, and then rarred it for zero savings and put it on Usenet, where I got it.

I'm not even being sarcastic. This does happen. Dumb fucks. Even when they are unpaid fourteen year olds, the distributors for video games find a way to fuck it up. On the other hand, the guys who threw this version of SC2 out there immediately got offered management positions with 2K Games.

In other console news:
"Mr. Tretton conceded that removing that capability, along with a few other features, isn't dramatically reducing Sony's cost of manufacturing the console but will instead encourage buyers of the entry-level PlayStation 3 to purchase more games designed specifically for the new system."
I don't follow any of this, because I buy a console five years after the fact, if at all. But this is pretty funny. There's already no reason to get a Playstation 3, but now they've made it so that, if you DID have some PS2 games you'll now need to scour the used electronics stores for them... and, the only compelling thing for the PS3, the back library of PS2 games, is gone.

You wonder how people get into position to make these kinds of decisions, but then you don't, because who gives a shit? There are dumb people everywhere.

by Worm » Thu Oct 18, 2007 11:03 am

ICJ, if it actually is an executable rar file (double archiving is pretty common now, I have no idea why) you double click on it, it should unrar the files you need.

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Thu Oct 18, 2007 10:53 am

It's an .exe file, in a rar archive.

It's called "Star Control II for the Xbox."

So I presume it's going to end up on the Xbox.

by Jack Straw » Thu Oct 18, 2007 9:54 am

no. it sounds like it's a rar file, but an executable?

on your Windows based Intel compatible personal computer, double click on the .exe file. All will be revealed.

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Thu Oct 18, 2007 9:26 am

So, you guys are just telling me to run the .exe file on the Xbox.

Okay.

I guess it's time to ... FTP into my Xbox!

So long as I can do this without having to do anything more than plug the Xbox into a network cable, I'm good with it. What's its IP address by default?

by Worm » Wed Oct 17, 2007 9:41 pm

It's not an executable archive right? I imagine the xbox is windows based and can handle special exes, much like my PS2 can run elfs.

by Jack Straw » Wed Oct 17, 2007 9:39 pm

run it?

Star Control II for the Xbox

by Ice Cream Jonsey » Wed Oct 17, 2007 8:57 pm

So, I got ahold of a bunch of .rar .... RARRRR files for the Ur-Quan Masters Xbox port. Otherwise known as "Star Control II."

But it's a .exe file.

Has anyone else encountered this? What do I do with this? I wasn't aware you could put .exe files on your Xbox.
