He will have to dig them out of Goodwill. The machines are gone.

Although, I probably have some more out in the garage. I'll check.

I have a friend who could use the 5-1/4" floppy drives.

I CAN tell you I am on the lookout for a PCjr. But it would be tough to justify setting up an XT or AT, personally.
I think everybody's looking for a PCjr. My dad bought one right when they were released and I wouldn't mind having one again. A friend of mine found one while we were thrifting together (he saw it first; fair is fair) but I don't think he's found a compatible monitor or keyboard yet.

Those two machines I have are a 286/10 and a 386/16. I actually have a 486/100 set up upstairs that dual boots DOS/Windows, so if I wanted to play a DOS game and couldn't get it to work in DOSBox, I could fall back on that.

I've had a few people ask me not to get rid of them but no one has come up with a use for them yet. Thanks to Craigslist I did get two offers from doctors in Nigeria, but neither was willing to pay for shipping.

install an Xbox in there. On second thought, just chuck them. It might seem like a waste but it's better than having them sit around, lurking in your house, waiting for you to fall asleep....

Ever see Poltergeist, when the clown is hiding under the bed, then the braces boy looks under there....
It could be bad.

Most people don't realize this but ninety percent of all household accidents are caused by XT computers. Something to do with the very heavy cases and primitive software.

I got these in part of a much larger purchase, one of those "must take everything" deals. At one point I had considered setting them up but {A} I have a dozen other computers I would hook up before I ever got to these (and I never got around to hooking up those), and {B} why?

I tried giving them away recently at a retro gaming convention. No one wanted them. I wrote a blog post attempting to give them away. No dice.

If I toss them in the trash, part of me feels like I am destroying a part of computer history. My wife is all for it.
