Why doesn't JC & BBS use single-factor identification?

I am curious why you can't log into either the main Jolt Country website or this BBS with the same credentials? In this case you can log in once for either or both. It would make more sense to use "single factor identification" in which a login on either logs you into both. Unless the Wordpress login here is only for management.

I notice the comment section of the main website recognized me, I gather it uses OpenID.

I mean, I've installed Wordpress and PHPBB is supposed to be integrated so both support Single Factor single login for both systems.
