Great question. I will toast it and throw peanut butter on it. Sometimes I toast the peanut butter too. I won't do it to those pieces immediately, so they tend to stick around for a bit.

However!

There is a breakfast place a couple of towns over and they make jalapeno cheddar bread. That I DO seek out the "butt" ends for. I create the butt by slicing this ambrosia, and then I gently toast it and add a little butter. It is the "gold standard" of the bread experience.

I used to put it back, as a sort of keep fresh humidifier. Then I'd toss it. But throwing food away is scandalous according to family members so now it's a delicious treat!
