My video card is dying

Post by AArdvark »

It's an Nvidia from my boy's PC from when he was in college, circa 2009. He built a gaming PC with his college money, dual 8800 GTS cards. Then he gave me the machine because a Microsoft Surface was way better than messing with all those wires and hard drives and things. I only have one card in my box of wires, my mom has the other one so she can play Diablo 3. It's had a good run but now there are large green lines covering parts of the screen. I have a less powerful card on the way from Amazon. I don't play super duper powerful PC games so I don't need all the horsepower (or noisy fans) plus the new card has HDMI output , not just DVI like I have now.

I wish they would stop changing the plugs on stuff like this. It used to be blue VGA and that was it, now it's DisplayPort and Mini DisplayPort plugs. I cant keep up.

This is important because I will need the machine to digitize my negatives when I buy a camera at Christmas

Closure. It's all better, the new card came in and installed perfectly. It'll even run Mafia2 ( just not full screen)
