Cyberganked - Machinist help.
One of the classes in Cyberganked is the Machinist.
It's been 12 years. I can't think of 14 perks to give this class. I would love ideas or help.
Machinist
1) Collects metal scrap in combat that can be used to build things later.
2) Is given a Nintendo-style power glove. Along with an equipped computer, the glove will add to damage done in combat.
3) Is given a Drone that will automatically attack one enemy each round.
4) The game will now display weapon damage information when a particular weapon is looked at and owned by the party.
5) The BUILD command is enabled. This will allow a Machinist to build items using scrap and program energy.
6) ??
7) Is given Robot Armor, the best armor in the game. Can't be sold, can be unequipped.
8) ??
9) ??
10) Drone -the drone now attacks all enemies in a single group.
11) The Machinist can identify treasure traps 95% of the time
12) Gets 100 more program energy
13) Drone - the drone now attacks all enemies in all groups each round. Uses program energy.
14) Drone - attack all groups, double damage no save. Uses program energy
I like what the class can do with building stuff. They are the only ones that can use scrap. I like that gadgets like the drone, power glove and Robot Armor show up - I could totally see Vark creating a suit of armor if he wanted some day.
I am at a loss for three more perks for levels 6, 8 and 9.
Anyone have any suggestions or thoughts?

Re: Cyberganked - Machinist help.
Quick, random thoughts:
- Can unjam/repair broken weapons.
- Can open locked doors/windows by removing them from their hinges.
- With right parts, can build/run 3D printer to print something needed in the game. (Keys? Ammo?)
- Can create/use tools to repair machines/vehicles
- Can accurately measure distances (plus to missile attacks/defense?)
- Can build robot/NPC to join/fight with the party
- Can safely disassemble trapped treasure or random traps
- Can read blueprints (mapping? or assembling?)
- No damage from hot, sweaty environments?
- Immune from attacks from other union members
- Can sharpen/create blade weapons from raw steel
- Identify value/quality of weapons/metal treasure

Backdoor Repair - Can offer to repair the enemy's gear, but overcharges them for the service, the gear ends up being worse than it was before, and in addition, he breaks their toilet handle and has sex with their wife.

I love all of these ideas. I will write about how I am turning them into game elements next!

I don't remember if people level up in this game, but if they do and it's in the style of those games where you go to a location to level your characters up, machinists could level up faster (but possibly more expensive?).
Or give them a perk where they can make enemies fall asleep by talking about the tech school they went to.

Re: Cyberganked - Machinist help.
I believe you! I'm just such a cynic at heart, and especially when people are currently going to a tech school, there's such hope and optimism that my whole body shouts "scam!" and I feel very uncomfortable and want to leave the conversation as quickly as possible. I'm glad it all worked out for you, though (assuming that your contributions to this thread mean you followed such a career path)!
is "unyielding optimism" a good RPG perk?

I really love the "open window" thing that Flack suggested. The street magician class has things relating to sleight of hand and can pick locks and whatever.
I feel that Aardvark, if he wanted to get into a place would simply unscrew the bolts and such.
