Exhausted

Post by AArdvark »

This was a big weekend for the 'ol AArdvark. Now I'm whooped. Too much social engagements, let me tell you. Why does everything have to happen on the one and half days I get to rest?

Friday night we went to friends for dinner, smoked turkey from the smoker, mmm-mmm good. Got up Saturday morning for a trip to the Public Market, I only make it there on the Saturdays I don't work, which is very infrequent. I only go for the morning coffee, there's a couple of roast-on-premises coffee bars there, always a treat. Then we went out for breakfast to a new brunch place that was pretty good. There was a kids birthday party for the grandson that Noon, he turned three. A house full of twelve kids all under eight, running around having a noise contest, or whatever. I brought beers for insulation.
Then two hours after that we out to dinner for a belated wife's birthday, which was actually in early October but our friends had been on a Panama Canal Cruise at the time and wanted to make up for missing her birthday. It was either too much day or bad food but I had to get up and walk outside behind the restaurant and puke my guts out. Huh, haven't done that while I was sober in years. We were supposed to stay for Karaoke but we called it a night instead. Today was my mom's 80th birthday party, she wanted pizza and a funny hat. We got all that in Rochester. Everyone came over and had a great time. We were supposed to go to friends for dinner tonight but man, I am so knocked out from all the events I begged off. I am just plain whooped.

Grandson was with us all day Sunday. Dad was out of town for a work thing and mom could use a break from both kids so we took the three year old to the zoo

How was the zoo? Did it click with him that, OMG, there are real animals there that he probably only read about otherwise?

Not so much. He was more into watching all the other kids there. He did enjoy the sea lion tank though
