Is this some kind of joke article? I saw it said "The Strong National Museum of Play

The Strong announces 12 finalists for the
2023 World Video Game Hall of Fame".

Followed by... nothing. Literally blank except for what appears to be a general page footer of navigation links at thr bottom of the page. There is nothing listed.

3/4 of Rochester's downtown is the worst Ghetto I've seen and I've been to San Francisco, LA, and Harlem. You've got 1/4 of the downtown being the likes of East Ave/Alexandar/Monroe/University and those smug college/marketing fucks don't give a shit about retro gaming. The rest of downtown is a zombie apocolypse kind of thing so those folks are barely getting by, probably with Xboxes and Playstations I'm guessing.

I get shitting on the Strong MOP but you have to admit that in the 90's it was just a floor of stupid dolls from the Kodak bitch. They have a decent arcade room and their collection of retro games and toys is interesting enough to spend an afternoon with my parents which isn't something small.

Also, I'll fight anyone who says RATM shouldn't be in any hall of fame, they created a whole fucking genre and brought social justice causes to the massess before it was "woke". They were the first band that I heard that said what they meant in a way that expressed their emotions. Not some weird heavy metal ballad shit, not a social justice melodic rock song, just this is what I think and what I think about it, "fuck you I won't do what you told me". Heavy Metal Rap? What was before them of any substance, IDK.

Oh yeah, to clarify, I think the museum is amazing. It is spacious, laid out wonderfully, totally interactive and some place I can take my wife when she comes to town. I love it and could not love it any more than I do. It is a shining jewel in a city that, like you said, have parts straight out of Robocop.

This hall of fame thing is an unsightly boil on an otherwise beautiful face.

That part contains all the good arguments that exist for "Wii Sports."

No argument, seems silly.

A glance at their Video Game Hall of Fame shows they're mostly lazy pieces of shit. I agree that most of the stuff they list is notable but 2 Zeldas? Atari Ms Pac Man was garbage. Not sure how Barbie Fashion Designer counts as a video game. Clearly done by folks who don't give a shit about games.

Ballot for this year. I guess voting is closed to the public.
https://www.museumofplay.org/players-choice-ballot/

If I am ranking them:

Strong yes: Elite, Asteroids, Resident Evil, SimCity, Metroid, You Don't Know Jack
I wouldn't object: Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk Pro Skater
Every other game in this series is better except 9: Ultima
I don't care for it, but I get that others do: Myst
Unsure: NeoPets
Hadn't heard of it: Tokimeki Memorial.

That is cool that they have created discussion around Tokimeki Memorial. I look forward to knowing more. This group of nominations is a thousand percent better than last year.

Sim City better be a unanimous first-ballot HOFer. Anyone who doesn't vote for it doesn't deserve to be on the panel.

You Dont Know Jack and Guitar Hero get my other two votes.

I can't see their board not going for SimCity, it has really wild appeal and nobody there knows or remembers the debacle EA created with their latest "sequel" to it.

Random bits of information I've (for no obvious reason) have researched about SimCity:

1. Since at least the IBM / Tandy version, it looks like the name was spelled Sim City (with a space between the two words.)
2. HOWEVER! There is enough of a "space" between Sim and City to suggest it wasn't a single word ala SimCity 4.
3. Several of the boxes declared the game as "SIMCITY!" further complication this quick bit of "looking stuff up."
4. The ZX Spectrum port of Sim City by Infogrames has the MOST AWESOME box art:

The Strong Museum of Play just fired two workers that were attempting to unionize.

Union busting is illegal but rarely correctly enforced. I won't step foot into that fucking dump for the rest of my life and I'll mention their pathetic little demonstration every time I see them mentioned. God forbid Rochestarians have something to be proud of.

The hall of fame was already terrible.

Its interesting that I had to go to the CSEA website for that story because not one of the three main news websites for Rochester had anything.
