Still keeping the dream alive to own the Funhouse

Post by Jizaboz »

Noticed a local (heh, 3 hours away) listing for a Funhouse machine. The problem is it's bundled with another machine.. collectively for 11,000$. I don't expect this to realistically happen, even given the current arcade pricing. Especially in this area. Figured it was worth a shot.

My email:
Hello.

I gather you are selling these machines together, but if for some reason only Sorcerer is sold off individually or you are having trouble selling both at the same time, I'd like to offer 3500$ for Funhouse and could possibly trade or negotiate for a bit higher (especially if you are seeking other arcade stuff, which I collect). Just wanted to put this out there as this is one of my favorite pinball titles.

Thanks for your time,
-Michael

I feel like this is an OK random Craigslist inquiry. I'm not offering to trade computer parts, car parts, or whatever bullshit. I know the guy probably wants 5k for the thing but I don't think he can sell it for that so.. LET'S MAKE A DEAL.

If this does work out, then goodbye to most of the money in my bank account but hey with no mortgage and no kids.. FUGGIT. This is truly the only pinball machine I really wanted to own ("Fathom" taking a close 2nd for some reason. ICJ's friend had one ready to go for me a couple years ago for around 3.5k but at the same time I had to put down 4k for house foundation repair) and it's not as if the prices on pinball machines are ever going down.

Someone once said that everything is negotiable. The worst that can happen is the guy turns you down, in which case you might be able to negotiate something else. Good luck, Mikey/Jiz.

This is one of the reasons women often make less money. Not because employers routinely pay women less - that is illegal - but because men are more likely to negotiate initial salary upward. And more likely to push for raises. It also doesn't hurt to either be in a STEM field or a very physical/dangerous job, like electrician, lineman (I don't know of a gender neutral term, except maybe outdoor electrical line technician( and so on. But it all begins by negotiating.

Thanks Paul. Yeah he never replied me but I figured it was worth a shot. I’ll score one eventually!

Yeah, I don't get how there is THAT MUCH market for a $7500 pinball. Stern starting at like 10K these days (I think) is insane to me as well.

Also, the last time I shut my mouth off about tech prices, the guy came to the BBS because he saw it. So Funhouse recreator creators, please don't take offense. I HOPE you all make millions off this and make more pinball machines. Nothing would be better than for pinball to hit new heights!
