We have a song called Androgyny which is fine, but the drums are very low in the mix and there are cracks and pops in the audio. I have the 4 tracks on tape and I guess I could try to restore them. Lalal split the voice and instruments for me as a free demo, and it is very affordable to get credits to do the thing.

(That seems to be how software is working these days. We went from buying it and installing it locally to subscriptions to buying "credits." This is why people hate capitalism.)

It has a built-in audio interface, gain control and a bunch of other stuff that you could use. I got it a while ago but don't use it as it wont do overdubs properly.
It looks like I need a female USB to female USB cable for it. I should have that somewhere in the cable graveyard. Thank you VERY much for sending it, of course!

Enjoy! Looking forward for the next album release party.

Q: how do store your cables? This is open to the floor, anyone

Big giant effing box for the ones inside the house. I hate it. It is the bane of my existence.

In the attic in the garage I have a few giant tupperware style boxes, with cables sorted into different kinds: network, video, audio, power. A couple of times a year I do this dance:

I bring out the extra cables from inside the house that I cannot possibly need, making sure that there are two spares that I leave behind to the attic containers. I store them.

Over the next few weeks, I realize I needed some, and I go into the attic and retrieve them one at a time.

I made The Great Wall of Cables so they don't get tangled. The chord chart on the floor is titled 'guitar chords' which I find amusing

Izotope (I think) has a series of plugins that will de-hiss, de-pop, and de-crackle (imagine what it would do to a bowl of Rice Krispies!) audio recordings. I think the plugin costs $500 and no I didn't pay that and yes I got like 8 viruses from installing it, but the point is I have it installed and if you want me to run that track through it, let me know. At this point I would assume this plugin (a) was really good 3-5 years ago and (b) pales to what AI can do.

Do you still have the tape deck? You could convert all the individual tracks to digital and use Abelton to mix them better, louder, stronger. I was thinking about doing that with all my 4 track master tapes, just to preserve them.
