I've been kinda busy lately.

I found a new job. It's a lousy job, mind you, but it pays the mortgage. And it requires less than 25% of my mental resources, leaving time to write, draw, and post on BBS systems, especially on slow, lazy weekend days.

Remember how I made a New Year's resolution to write a text adventure and finish my degree? The latter half is coming true. The game will have to wait, sorry. Graduation: 1 week from today.

Also, I purchased a Christmas present for my girlfriend. The type that has sparkly chunks of compressed, very hard carbon and is worn on the fourth finger of the left hand. Yes. Her Christmas present is a diamond engagement ring. Which I placed in a small wooden heart-shaped container, which itself was placed in a bear, and the whole placed in a box and wrapped.

And -- because I am lousy at keeping this sort of thing as a surprise, and I wanted some amount of unanticipated flatfooted girl-in-shock out of all of this proposal stuff -- I gave it to her right after dinner three days ago.

I am now engaged to be married to Jessica, probably in autumn of next year, probably in Vegas (Vegas, baby. We're looking at the Monte Carlo, because the Bellagio is apparently catering to the "6-figure-plus income" crowd).

Between the ring and the house, I think I've just about burned away all of my punk points.

Yep, been a big month.

So that's my excuse for not having a game ready for comp this year. How's everybody else been doing? I'm trying to get a picture based on the past few months of posts, but there's roughly a quarter-million words of prose to get through. I will add, though, that the smoking thread, among others, has been the high-quality prose I remember and love from here.

A) Congratulations.

B) Why not do it in late summer. Specifically, second weekend of August. The same weekend as CGE. That way, we could make a JC BBS Festival of it!

Congrats! It's really nice to hear from you, and that sounds really swell. What's it like to have a fiancé? Does it hurt?

We will always be here for you m'man, no matter what. The Internet will outlast 100 marriages.

I wanted you for myself, PTX.

No, seriously! Congrats. And I second the statement made by One of the Bruces. Marrying, burying and Crystal-Castle-2600-Cartridge-Carrying (so that the designer can sign it, natch) are the things that need to be done for the CGE. I am sure that you fiance would appreciate our input, so do feel free to send her this way!
