The Official Jolt Country Wine Thread

I like RIESLING.

What other wines would I like? It is a Johannesburg riesling or something.

Please help me. This is the best wine I can recall trying. Additionally: Ben, BEN BEN!! Do they sell this stuff at Ruth's Chris?

You'd probably like Wild Irish Rose, or maybe Thunderbird. Yep, T-Bird or Wild Eye seems the style of the man who likes a Riesling.

And they might HAVE it at Ruth's Chris, maybe to go with Well-Done Steaks, but you should really be drinking a heavy red, with a lot of body and moderate tannins, to go with steak. But it's your call, of course. The customer is always right.

Have you tried Mad Dog, banana-kiwi style?

Banana-kiwi is for fags. Grape, or in a pinch, orange, god damnit.

Seriously, you would like a Gewurtztraminer. Very similar to a Riesling but perhaps sweeter and frutier. Plus, they actually would have this at a Ruth's Chris (but you should order with fish or chicken instead of steak). For red wine, you might like Blackstone Merlot which is very soft with hints of mixed berries. In general, you would probably like Merlot's or Red Zinfindel's better because they taste a bit sweeter.

Other suggestions include: Chenin Blanc, Chablis in a box, Burgandy in a Jug.

Jonsey, since Bruce suggested Wild Irish Rose (a favorite of winos everywhere), let me also suggest CISCO from the same company. It comes in a wonderful variety of flavors and strength, and is a favorite of college kids everywhere.

I drink Merlot and cabs. My father, however, drinks girly wine, and was responsible for the reisling. I, as a matter of fact, turned down the Gewurstraminer(SP), on Jonsey's behalf. We have tried Blackstone merlot, as it's the best and most acessible merlot for the price, but the latest vintage needs to age a few more months. I really like Firestone merlot, and Coppola merlot/cab.

I have other ways of emasculating my men. Like making them listen to DEATH METAL, wearing LINGERIE FOR THEM, and COOKING THEM DINNER EVERY NIGHT.

There's a line to be towed around here, and I'm not gonna be the one to tow it.

Mad Dog has two flavors I have yet to try: that, and the oft-whispered "crapapple bikini" flavor. They apparently cancelled "Blue Whale" several years ago, though I did try a sip... once.

Yeah, I forgot about the whole steak-white wine thing. I just want to go into Ruth's and not make a giant jackass out of myself next time.

Noted! Thanks. I am almost positive that I have had Blackstone Merlot before. I don't think I have ever been repulsed by a Merlot... at least, not yet.

I tried some, what do you call it, "port" over Christmas. It was like drinking alcoholic candy!

It's $2.31 a bottle out here in Longmont.

I haven't bought any.
