The Screenshot Thread Sucks (And Here's Why).

The "screenshot" thread sucks, and here's why:

1. Any person with an enthusiasm for the "classic" games by their very nature has a small cadre of titles at which they truly excel. Naturally, they will want to upload their screenshot of one of THOSE games, which most likely are not in the analogous cadre of the other users of this site.

2. This, of course, leads to everyone uploading their screenshots of great scores on their own games, hoping someone will challenge them (which of course, they won't, because who the hell plays Foodfight anymore). The singular exception to this thusfar has been my own Q*Bert upload, a battle already well represented in a different thread.

3. Even worse, all these singular screenshots which nobody would have any interest in challenging clutters up a thread which high-bandwidth users would already consider annoying, and which dialup users (such as myself, *sob*) would already consider unacceptable and would actively avoid.

On the other hand, I think the concept is spectacular. So, I'll propose one (or more) alternatives to the Screenshot Thread:

Alternative #1: Someone "throws down the Gauntlet (TM)" and says, "I challenge the universe to a war of game X". If this is accepted, a new thread is borne, similar to (or rather, exactly like) the "QBERT WAR" thread on this very forum.

Alternative #2: Actually, I can't think of a true Alternative #2, but then again, I'm highly intoxicated on that sweet, sweet rum. But I'm sure there ARE other alternatives. Discuss amongst yourselves.

Asteroids

Cyberball 2072 (any team/any opposing coach/GameBreakers)

Ms. Pac Man
Pac Man Jr.
Missile Command
Galaga

He's right. We should simply pick a certain game and create a online high score board in a thread like what is happening now.
