I got up at 8:00 AM today, and began preparing for my 9:30 cooking class over at the Culinary School of the Rockies. I left around 9:15, as it's only across the street from me. I would normally walk there, but I have to carry knives and recipe books and things like that, so I take the car instead.
Class was relatively short and simple today, though. Normally we don't cut out until 2:30, but today, by about 1:00, 1:15, we were all done. The omelettes, the shortbread cookies, the buttermilk biscuits, the macerated oranges, and the Nicoise salad had all been lovingly prepared and served to us. So I headed back home, walking in the door at about 1:30. PM.
It is now: 1:30. AM.
I spent some time in there posting on BBS's, chatting with broads on the internet, catching up with my boy ICJ, having a bite to eat, all the normal goings-on in a rich full life such as mine.
But every other second not accounted for in that description has been spent playing:
Burnout 3: TAKEDOWN!
The lowlight of the day would be the one hour I spent attempting to successfully complete one 55-second "mission" (for lack of a better word). I attempted it no less than 70 or 80 times before finally finding success.
The other lowlight was never, ever being able to stop myself from continuing play.
The "stats" screen says that I am "52% through" with the game, but this is deceiving. There are exactly *6* (out of, what, 80? 90?) racing events left, all of which I've determined to be nearly impossible. That was my arbitrary "stopping point" today, so I could get to bed before the football games start tomorrow. I said I'd do all the *possible* ones, then leave the impossible ones for tomorrow. There are six of them. Six events. If I can knock out half of them tomorrow, I will consider it a good day.
But the fact that this is all I can think of at 1:41 AM is somewhat disconcerting to me.
The reason it says I'm only "52% through" is because I've left most of the "crash mode" events until last. These are little "puzzly" type events, where the idea is to figure out the "trick" to getting the most points. That's cute, and mildly fun for a while, but it's not really a driving game, so I'm leaving it for later.
I'm on drugs, and I'm drunk, but this is all I can think to write about. I just wanna talk some BURNOUT 3: TAKEDOWN!!!
Nobody else has, or has played this game, have they?
(B3:T FUN FAX!!! ICJ played me in a best-of-13 contest last night, using various multi-player modes of the game. HE WON!)
Let's talk BURNOUT 3: TAKEDOWN!
