I think I have every single one of those at home.

Would it work if I created a distinct page off the www site with download links to those ROMs, and future ROMs?

Yes, except DON'T GET IN TROUBLE!!!!!! If you post the Deathrace ROM, you are potentially taking valuable business away from... you know, that company that made Deathrace...

What would probably help would be if there were a way to stop people from linking to the ROMs from outside the BBS.

Boy, if only I had the HTML code for that. Or... if only there were a guy who wrote his own webpage from scratch in the last couple of months, who eats, breathes and sleeps this stuff!! Dammatron!!! If only!

Though this BBS is so small, I doubt it's an issue. Can I take this opportunity to thank all of you who come by here every day and contribute? I think you're one of the best buncha guys (and gals!) on the internet. I get a chuckle from one of you every time I login. Y'all doing some serious rocking, in other words.

Yeah, but I thought I'd mention that I bought a set of like 10 CDs with ROMS on them from, uhh, http://www.tombstones.org.uk/~arcadelover/

It was something like ten bucks, which seemed to be a reasonable deal.

Did those work for anybody?

Roadblasters worked.
Bubble Bobble did not.

The rest I didn't try, because none of them are Galaga 88 (which is what I requested, I should point out.)

Good point, I guess.

But still: downloading 5G of ROMS takes a lot of time. More, in fact, than $11 of my time, which is about 20 minutes at my salary, about 40 minutes at my take-home-pay rate, and about 6 minutes at what I'm billed to clients at.

Even if I heavily discount my own time because it's, like, not onerous and I'm just screwing around, crippling my pr0n download speeds for, like, hours and hours and hours isn't worth the $11.

I am the MAMEYIST.

I just copied all those CDs over to the machine I bought to play NWN.

And then I played some Donkey Kong and some Berzerk, and then got my ass kicked by Frenzy.

Whoo!
