New Motherboard

Post by AArdvark »

Have to replace the mobo in my mom's machine. The video card was moving into the special ed class when it came time to play Pirates! and Mafia. She's hooked on diablo 2, Dungeon Siege, Pirates! and Mafia. Certianly not cutting edge games but pretty graphics intensive. She went out and got a nice 128 mb 8X Nvidia but the mobo wasn't built with such hulking video power in mind. It only supports 4X. Stupid Soyo dragon crap!
New board on order.

The old 'board could never run the processor at full speed anyway and it always bothered me. like having a toaster that just wont make the bread golden brown. I DONT want white and crispy, I want golden brown, dammit! and I want a toaster with a ding bell. I tried all the toasters at Target the other day and NONE of them have ding bells. My toaster has a ding bell. I donut want to replace it with a non-ding bell toaster.

That's great that she plays Mafia.

Installed the thing Tuesday. While I was in there I dusted and straightened the cables out. I really don't like to have the case side covers on because of the heat build up. It has a case fan but I think it still gets too hot. It's in a spot where nobody can
get to the sides and fry themselves (at least without some effort) and it's really not that loud. I figure twice a year for dust removal would work nicely.
