Yeah, after an initial flurry of messages there doesn't seem to be a lot of things to talk about. If you start a conversation thread I promise I will reply! Also, thanks to the magic of Internet lists, we can sign people up as long as we know their e-mail addresses. Granted they have to hit the "Accept" link, but still.

As a parting comment, since I, like Tom Tauser, have unsubscribed from the list, I'd like to say that the problem with IF is that people spend too much time having thoughtful discussions about it, and not enough time doing it.

Sincerely,

Ben Parrish, Legendary IF Author.

Christ, why did you unsubscribe so quickly? I thought you made some great points and I was looking forward to commenting on them.

And I thought Emily's suggestion of ACG was exactly what you are looking for.

Unsubscribing doesn't appear to have done anything. So I'm stuck reading that stuff for at least a little while longer.

Please do! Or at least go to digest mode. I can't explain it, but it saddens me that you are leaving the list. This is like the last shot conversation for IF has and I do want you to be a part of it. Again, I can't fully define why and this probably sounds very creepy or childish.

It's just... if you leave, then I think we're never going to get that Ben Parrish FUN game that we know is in you. That's all. I need you on that wall.

What made you want to unsubscribe? I didn't see anyone respond to you in a negatively-themed way or anything.

No, it's just deathly boring. Bruce wrote the only funny thing on there before I got there, and for his troubles he got "Shattered Rainbow: The Tom Tauser Story" in return.

Yes, but it is just starting! It's not going to get any better if you are not there. If you're not digging it, then that's cool, but ... ah, Christ, this is all coming back to how I know, I fuckin' know, a great text game is BREWING INSIDE YOU, but the likelihood of it coming out grows less, er, likely with each passing day.

It's killing me.

And come on, the Tom Tauser story was funny.

Like I say, the "unsubscribe" function appears to be as useful as a condom on a cracker, so this discussion is mute.

It's just because I'm the jock who fucked the entire cheerleeding squad AND the homecoming queen while chain-smoking Lucky Strikes at the prom, and then casually stuffed Jim Aikin into a locker and pissed on him before wiping my still-slimy-from-the-cheerleaders dick on his hair, zipping up, and roaring away in my candy-apple red 1967 Mustang, while that hot Civics teacher lay across my lap, fondling the stickshift while giving me road head.

Please, God, someone unsubscribe me from this list. It is the worst thing I have ever seen, and will report it to the authorities for spam and harassment if I am not removed from the recipient list immediately.

What the hell is wrong with it? Good grief. It's just people talking about IF. Adam even referenced LISP recently.

Anyway, I have given up ever hoping that we are going to see another game from you. This is one of the saddest days of my life.

Lemme just check on my SUBJUNCTIVE PLUPERFECT BLAH BLAH BLAH and I'll get right back to you. In the meantime, let me know how the discussion goes about what's the most perfectest development language for 1) not writing any games, or 2) writing bad games, or 3) writing decent games that nobody will ever play.

Keep me up to date on that, okay?

Okay, okay, you win. I'm off the list.

(I think you need to address your concerns when Jason comes to California for more documentary interviews.)

So I'm off the list. I'm changing subjects slightly. Is there ANYTHING I can personally do to encourage you to finish developing that game you were working on. I mean seriously, just name it.

No. It will happen when it happens, and nothing will speed up the process.

In fact, any effort you expend toward achieving the goal will likely do naught but hinder the process.
