All of Robert Louis Stevenson's stuff is out of copyright, right? I'd post this on raif, because I know that people know the answer to this, except that I don't want the Pissing Bandit to urinate all over my cheerios. Ah! Ah! Ah!

(I fully admit that I fucked up the whole public domain versus copyright thing the first time I talked about it on it on raif -- er, rec.arts.int-fiction for anyone with no idea what I am talking about -- years ago, but quickly got on the right track after a helpful post from Andrew Plotkin. I think the reason he is so revered by the masses is that, in addition to writing good games he doesn't show a lack of patience to people involved in that tired thread that keeps punching raif in the face over and over again.)

Anyway, Amazon has the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde for $1.00. I know it's not the longest book in the world, but WTF? $1.00? Am I missing something? I'm missing something here, right? (The text, if it is no longer under copyright is probably over at that Project Gutenberg ... which, yeah, as I check it out while I write this, it does appear to be as such.)

Well, I found out the answers to almost all of my questions. I should have aborted the thread, but maybe someone will save it and put up a picture of some guy in a Mustard costume or something.

Still not sure why Amazon is selling the book for a single dollar, but later research indicates that they are selling a version with other stories for six bucks. I think I am just going to use the printer here at work and print out the copy over at Project Gutenberg.

Yeah, gutenberg.org rules, especially with the programs out there to convert the text files into a format for my PDA. I've read Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn at work in the last month.
Of course, all the old stuff makes me yearn to read some cyberpunk or something to balance it, but oh well. At least there's some good depressing Russian literature and all that available.
