Fava Beans: A Review

Post by Vitriola »

Bought these at a world grocery which I decided to explore. Guy in there who was Egyptian said he ate them every day of his life (sold!), and you have to heat them with lemon juice, garlic, salt and pepper.

I started out unconvinced, by the end of the bowl I had stopped typing and was concentrating on the food. The beans themselves look interesting, but smell sorta bad when out of the can at first, like how sausage smells unpleasant when you first start cooking it. Beans are a bit drier, and as a whole, they are distinguishable only by the fact that they taste really good with lemon and garlic. I'm not sure another bean could have carried that off, but the fava has a good sense of its place in the organization. ****
