Well, that helped but I'm getting stumped. I want to ask if it's an MP4 player but those connect to a computer. Or maybe not. Oh wait; I never owned one so I wasn't thinking of it.

Question: IS THE DEVICE A DVD OR BLU-RAY DISC, OR MP3 AUDIO OR MP4 AUDIO/VIDEO PLAYER?

Only if the preceding question is answered "no", Question: IS THE DEVICE ITSELF A COMPUTER OR IN SOME FASHION A COMPUTING DEVICE?

(9) The object is NOT a blu-ray, MP4, MP3, Mp6-3/8 or any other kind of media player.
IS THE DEVICE ITSELF A COMPUTER OR IN SOME FASHION A COMPUTING DEVICE?
(10) Hmmm, interesting. A quandary on my part.....

I will say that YES, it IS in some fashion a computing device.

At this point I'm stumped and need time to think about it. But I'll pass on some things it can't be and the item or items that disqualify it.

DISQUALIFIED:
* Anything that is not battery powered (#2)
* Pencil Sharpener (#6 (no video)).
* Any phone, hard wired (#1, #6 (no video)), wireless home phone (#8) or cell phone(#8, #3).
* Video Camera (#9).
* Stapler (#6).
* Flashlight (#6 (no sound), #10), Lamp(#1, #6, #10),
* Uninterruptable Power Supply (#1, #6).
* Any printer (#7, #3).
* Any computer part (#3): Keyboard, Mouse, Joystick, Light Pen, Speakers (#1, #3, #8)
* Any headphones (#1, #3, #8, #10)
* Any radio or TV
* disc player, MP3 or MP4 player
* Any personal item: eyeglasses or sunglasses (#2), hearing aid (#6), false teeth (#2),
* A Commodore 64 or older computers (#5, they were made partially in Japan or the USA, not in HKSAR).
* Any storage device including jump drives (#3)
* Any simple tool such as a power screwdriver.
* Postage Scale (#6, no audio)
* iPod (#9)
* It can't be an iPad because an ipad has a wifi radio (#8)

I've gone and googled "things on a desk" for ideas, and it's allowed me to exclude items.

I have a feeling this game is too hard. I don't even know if the item is routinely found on a desk, if not it could be almost anything. I think he should have given us twenty questions, each one is so precious I don't want to waste any but I lack data to be able to exclude items or zero in on what it might be.

I'm going to sleep on this and think about it. But I'm not eating the plate full of shit; if you read my comment to Hormel, I did that already.

In theory I could technically disqualify the whole quiz since Hong Kong is a "Special Administrative Region" of China and he originally said it was not "made in China". It would have been valid to say no that Hong Kong was not part of China before 1998; it was a British territory and China had no jurisdiction there.

But I'm still thinking about this and I've basically drained my idea tank; right now I'm stumped and wracking my brain. But there is no time limit, I've got several years to think about the next question to ask. :)

OK, I'll give you a couple hints.

It is NOT commonly found on a desk. Certianly not in this generation. It is not something that would normally be on a desk (unless you were me)

There is a picture of it here somewhere, taken inadvertently, when I was working on something else.

Thank you for the hint. The "computing device" and "audio and video" requirements allow me to exclude something else.

It is not a snowblower. (Which is also larger than a breadbox anyway.)

I have my own desk pictured on another thread here.

Question: IS IT A MULTIMETER, VOLTMETER OR OTHER DEVICE FOR REGISTERING OR MEASURING ELECTRICAL CURRENT OR POWER?

If I'm wrong I'm kicking myself in the ass, which is quite an accomplishment even if you're not wheelchair bound!

Knuckles, if you'd read his hint, he said it is not usually on a desk; calculators are still very common. Go visit a bank sometime. Also he said there's a photo of it here when he was doing something else. There's a multimeter in the snowplow photos. Which picture did you see a calculator?

If I had a speak and spell I would hack it to communicate with E.T. and
have him send me a bag of Reece's pieces.

(11) it is NOT a multimeter or any kind of testing device on my desk.

Not a calculator either, but all guesses meet the criteria so far.

I bet everyone is digging back through my posts right now.

That would not be a computing device of sorts.
