Flack is writing for THE RETROIST

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

Here's a link that I believe will get you all of Flack's posts:

And here is a link to the Retroist proper:

I like this website. The tone of the authors seems to be "Here is something cool that has a retro element to it." They aren't smug hipsters who need tragedy to put their smugness in some sort of perspective. It sort of reminds of me of http://www.damninteresting.com in so much as it's good information not designed to aggravate. In other words, if these guys had a home office and needed people to work the weekend, they'd leave the A/C on.

Thanks. ICJ!

I've been a fan of the Retroist's podcasts for quite some time now, but just got into checking the website a few months ago. You're right about the format of their posts, which is essentially, "here's this cool thing or picture" and a small blurb about it. Each writer is assigned a time slot to fill (mine run 3 days a week, M/W/F at noon central) and it really doesn't take me long to get a week's worth of posts ready to go.

It's a different kind of writing than I'm used to, but so far I'm enjoying it. Historically I've written reviews, or long(er), in depth articles. These little paragraph blurbs are more in the vein of Twitter, but that's where a lot of entertainment stuff is going, these days.

Oh, and my A/C unit is on, all the time. Both of them, in fact.
