I decided to splurge today and buy both the Target American Potato Salad and the Mustard Potato Salad, usually referred to as German Potato Salad. The American is a white colored potato salad, the mustard is, of course, yellow.
First, technically it's not "Target" potato salad, it's "Market Pantry" although that's a distinction without a difference. Market Pantry is one of Target Corporation's house brands, and both packages indicate they're distributed by Target Corporation.
The two are basically almost identical in terms of taste, the American potato salad using mayonaise as the sauce and the mustard potato salad, well, three guesses what they use for sauce. They both use red potatoes for the main ingredient, so the potato portion will basically taste the same, it's the sauce that makes the difference.
The mustard is just a bit "spicier" than the American, and thus I'm giving it a slight edge on taste, but both are quite tasty and either would make an excellent selection as a side dish or as part of a picnic setup.
Both sell for $4.99 in the 3 pound tub.

Good CHURMAN potato salad should have bacon and vinegar, not mustard.
Something like http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/authentic- ... etail.aspx which will cost less than $5 for 3lbs.

I have the equivalent of carpal tunnel in my right hand, do you think I have the capacity to peel and slice potatoes? For $5 bucks I can get all the work done and all I have to do is throw the plastic tub away when I'm finished eating. (Although I'm not sure why I'm eating the plastic tub instead of the contents.)Das Engine der Happiness wrote:Good CHURMAN potato salad should have bacon and vinegar, not mustard.

Only because you told me about it. The easiest way to reach me - despite lies to the contrary - is e-mail to paul@paul-robinson.us, otherwise you have to tell me I have a PM.ChainGangGuy wrote:Paul, did you receive my Jolt Country PM??Tdarcos wrote:For $5 bucks
