Oklahoma Video Game Expo 2012

Post by Flack »

This weekend is the 9th annual OVGE. At this moment, Aardvark is zooming through the air on his way to Oklahoma. In an hour or two, Ice Cream Jonsey will be zooming through the air on his way to Oklahoma. Right now I am zooming out to my car to start cleaning the trash out of it.

Exciting updates about this weekend will go in this thread!

I guess I can't fault the weather for having to catch a flight tomorrow instead of tonight. You did warn the nation by calling your team the THUNDER.

I got fucking Thundered!

Also, I hope you got my flapjacks not cake joke??

Judging from the storm that blew through here last night it's a good thing they cancelled RobB's flight. First thing I thought of when I was jolted awake at 3AM was the storm cellar in the garage. Realizing that I am unfamiliar with the geography of Flack's domicile, I took the easiest choice and simply went back to sleep.

Yes, it seems we ALL got THUNDERED.

I missed the flapjack joke, but it could have been at a time when either (a) our team was getting anally raped by the Miami Heat or (b) we were getting pounded by severe storms last night.

'Vark's right, the best course of action I've found is to just sleep through the things. If your house gets blown away in the middle of the night, you'll know about it in the morning.

Pretty much all we've done so far is eat, I think. Vark and I ate at a local BBQ place Thursday night and a hole in the wall breakfast grill Saturday morning. For lunch yesterday the three of us had onion burgers at Sid's, and for dinner we ate too much Mexican food at Mama Roja's.

This morning, I am waddling around like the fat pig that I am.

I had an utterly fantastic time. I hope to have things "back to normal" in terms of my exhaustion level to where I can speak about how much fun the show was. Soon.

I have two IOUs (one for the Retroist, one for my own blog) for summaries of OVGE this morning. I'll repost one of those two here after I get them done.

For the parts that won't go into those reviews ... I had an utterly (udderly, perhaps, in Oklahoma) time hanging out with ICJ and Aardvark this weekend. Robb was, as always, witty and funny and full of informative stories. It was a blast to meet the 'Vark in person. A few times at the show I caught his eyes open wide like a kid in a candy store.

The only regret I had was that I did a terrible job of preparing for everyone's visit. You guys kind of caught me in a state of dissaray at the moment. Even though we've been in our new house for, gosh, six months, I still don't (as you saw) have things organized quite yet. I still have stuff to unpack, and I still have things that need to end up "in their place". I just ran out of time before you gys got here, and I felt bad about that.

As for everything else though, I had an awesome time. I hope you guys liked the local food and some of the places we visited. Like I said, I'll write up a bit more of a summary here shortly.
