My lame Black Friday purchases
I'm sure everyone here is eyeing a new video game, television, hamster wheel or specialized hobby item (maybe an All in One board) that is now on sale this holiday season. My list is rather more mundane, treading into the "I am now an adult" territory:
1. Bras for hapticanimal ($400 worth of $61 bras at 25% off).
2. Boxers for myself (nearly a 50% discount and I bought a high quality brand in bulk)
3. Undershirts (buy one get one free!)
4. Leggings for hapticanimal (20% off)
5. Replacement hydration pack reservoirs (10% off quasi-military spec from a brand that is highly rated).
6. Bicycle panniers / saddlebags (15% off a boutique brand from Washington state)
I hold off on semi-major everyday purchases until Black Friday as the smaller / boutique brands I usually purchase from feel obligated to give some sort of discount (even if they are the least able to afford it).
Anyway, anyone have any better stories of catches for this consumer holiday?

Pinback commented to my Black Friday Facebook post about feeling superior to the crazy shoppers out there. All I have to say is that I wish Stand Your Ground laws were more valid in WalMart. That would make a much more satisfying video than watching grown people act like starving hyenas around a wildebeest carcass.
That does make me feel superior.

Most Walmarts have a sign posted at the front door barring weapons from being brought inside. This means if you are a legal gun owner and have a conceal carry permit you cannot bring a gun inside the store. However if you are a bad person who is already planning on breaking the law, then Walmart's policy doesn't mean much to you.
Posted warning or not, I don't think I'd get within a hundred feet of those Black Friday mobs unarmed.

There are fifty million stores running "Black Friday" sales. The hyenas are the news reporters who scour the country looking for the handful of stories about people misbehaving.
99.93843% of everyone else involved is just having fun. But you go on thinking you're better than everyone.

Am I a hero? I really can't say. But, yes.

TDarcos is slipping in his old age. A completely missed opportunity to manually count every store in the country having a "Black Friday" sale and compare it to fifty million.pinback wrote:There are fifty million stores running "Black Friday" sales.
If he doesn't respond to this one and tell us how impossible it would be to manually count every store in the country hving a "Black Friday" sale, God is dead.
And if he doesn't respond to THAT with a quote from somebody in regards to saying "God is dead," motherfucking Christmas is cancelled.
