I also bought from Amazon a new monitor for my new computer. For $150 I bought a 24" Viewsonic monitor that supports Dvi or VGA.
I unplugged and moved my Acer quad core to the other desk (I had to buy a new desk, I ran over the old one - made mostly of plastic and pressboard, no match for 700 pounds of power wheelchair and me), moved the six core Avatar to my old desk, moved the new monitor to the old desk, hooked up mouse, keyboard and speakers, and it's gorgeous.
The machine knew this monitor supports 1920x1080 and that's what it set it at. It's huge, my old monitor is a 17" NEC monitor that supports both DVI formats, VGA and offers the option to use either landscape or portrait, so it's very useful when reading PDF documents, I can spin the monitor 90 degrees and view a page in landscape orientation, just like when you read a piece of paper.
You can't adjust the new monitor but it's so big it would be silly to try,
It used to be that the Jolt Country display took up the screen and that was it; now, the Jolt Country display takes up the middle 1/3 of the screen and the two sides are blank.
