I support John Romero and Adrian Carmack. I gotta be honest, I've had the occasional dream of starting my own software company. I doubt I would have managed it any better than Ion Storm.

I don't like how sooooooo many anonymous people have ganged up on Romero over the years. I hope they complete Blackroom successfully.

This could go either way as far as either being fun or terrible. And yeah I agree with icecreamjonsey that Romero doesn't seem to be a douche at all. I believe him that the terrible Daikatana advertising campaign wasn't even his idea.

Daikatana sucked though. Tried to play it. Really I did.

Perhaps I should have been more specific; I literally can't tell if they are pretending to be teenaged autistics making their first pitch, or if in the last 23 years they have never had any media training.

Wellllllll, John has tried previously to be wild and crazy with a couple advertising campaigns and the audience at the time lost their minds.

I also never, ever understood what the problem was back then. You can't take an advertisement like, "John Romero's About To Make You His Bitch" seriously. It doesn't mean anything. It's silly. It's goofy! I never met someone actually offended by it. It's more like you'd read that people got all bothered by it and people just ran with it. Even with Daikatana - if someone was a shareholder, sure, I could see how they would be cross, but there wasn't a single person that bought Daikatana that didn't know what they were in for. I've got a copy on CD downstairs. I bought it a year or two after it came out and it was fine.

So I dunno. I'm sort of off crowdfunding because 21 out of 36 Kickstarter campaigns that I've backed over six years haven't finished. Most haven't come anywhere close and I'd say half of those projects are effectively abandoned. I get tired of yelling at people over the Internet. I don't want to feel that John Romero let me down, I think he's pretty damn cool. I'd rather pay $60 for his game when it's released than get in at 29 at the moment. Maybe that'll change.

99% of the people who were flaming Romero weren't even fucking born when Doom was released.

"Self-entitled pricks" is putting it mildly.

John Romero reminds me of Aron Ra and this game makes me think of Half-Life 2.

Aww. That is the nicest thing anyone's said to me all week.

I think I'm past those days now, though. Like a retired gunslinger, if the gun in question was the one from Duck Hunt, and if anyone could avoid being a target of the gun by looking to the right or left.

We all reach the age where we only shoot the ducks and not the dog that laughs at us between rounds.

You are not there yet. Keep shooting.
