The "What Content Do We Want?" Thread
So, what appears on this site? If people say what kind of stuff they're interested in, I'm sure they'll get takers from peeps in what is rapidly becoming (for the first time in 10 years) the "JC Community".
WHOOA!
Personally, I have not visited the JC site proper in quite awhile, except for last night because my name got on it, and I'm always excited to see my name on a website. Like this one! Ben Ben Ben.
One of the reasons is that I use Mozilla, and the JC page does not work in Mozilla. I mean, it kinda works, but all the images are broken and I feel offended when I'm there.
As far as content goes, I would like to see:
1. More discussions about gaming philosophy, stories tangential to the games themselves. My "shopping for WC3" story (and some of the subsequent drunken ramblings) were perfect examples. And I think we'll get more action if we solicit for that sort of stuff, rather than for reviews, since it's much easier to "write whatever you want about a game" than to "write a review that covers all of the requisite bases to provide an informed opinion to a potential customer."
2. More morse code.
3. Less people reminiscing about parties and people that they've been to/done that I have no idea who they are, and subsequently feel left out and unwanted.
4. More people with three names that start with the same letter.

Hey, you aren't kidding. WTF? Why would they not appear in Mozilla? They appear just fine in IE. I even have Mozilla at home, but for whatever reason hadn't noticed it before now. Course, it's so slow that I've been using IE even though Mozilla is installed to simply get chunks of my day back.Ben wrote:One of the reasons is that I use Mozilla, and the JC page does not work in Mozilla. Any idea what could be wrong? I mean, here's the code to display the buttons:
Code: Select all
<td valign="top" width="162" height="450"><img SRC="\buttons\1.gif" border="0" width="162"
height="61"><br>
<a href="http://www.joltcountry.com/chix/index.html"><img
SRC="\buttons\main_videogames.jpg" border="0" width="162" height="40"></a><br>
<a href="http://www.joltcountry.com/trottingkrips/index.html"><img
SRC="\buttons\main_trottingkrips.jpg" border="0" width="162" height="40"></a><br>
<a href="http://www.joltcountry.com/kohp/main.htm"><img SRC="\buttons\main_knightorc.jpg"
border="0" width="162" height="40"></a><br>
<a href="http://www.joltcountry.com/beaver/index.html"><img SRC="\buttons\main_beaver.jpg"
border="0" width="162" height="40"></a><br>
<a href="http://www.joltcountry.com/features"><img SRC="\buttons\main_features.jpg"
border="0" width="162" height="40"></a><br>
<a href="http://www.joltcountry.com/phpBB2"><img SRC="\buttons\main_bbs.jpg" border="0"
width="162" height="40"></a><br>
<img SRC="\buttons\5.gif" border="0" width="162" height="77"><br>
<br>
</td>
... and so forth. Seems pretty standard to me, right? Help!! Helpp!!!!

Oh, fer the love of Christ.
I just did an experiment. Before I had all my image sources linked up as "\buttons\video_games.jpg" or whatnot. This is because, if I ever move to a new webhost, I can just plop my stuff down and be done with it.
I just changed one of the buttons to "http://www.joltcountry.com/buttons/video_games.jpg" or whatever it was. And that came up just fine in Mozilla. So I've got to have hard links to the images? What the fuck?

Maybe we should have a poker base or something.
But what I really wanted to talk about: more content is on the way!! Now that my room has been cooled down by this alien technology I installed that somehow makes air cold and produces a half-gallon of water which is loosely sprayed all over my room I can stand to exist in it during prime content-creating times, rather than simply attempt to sleep the instant I get home and escape the Satan's Bungalow that my room had become.
I no longer crave oblivion, everybody! Hurrah!!!
So dust off your content Rhinos and content Beavers! For soon they shall be feasting.
