An episode of The Jack Benny Program was being broadcast live over the radio and the woman cast member - I'm thinking Rosemary Clooney (actually it was Mary Livingstone) - is trying to explain that she needed a lift as her car was up on a hoist being repaired, and she says, "No, I can't drive, right now my car is up on a grass reek." The entire audience burst out laughing, and as it was the end of the show they couldn't fix it.

The writers decided to tease her the following week, where one of the other characters says to her. "You know, there was a skunk running on the lawn, and boy did the grass reek." They got another big laugh from the audience.

Sometimes the mistakes can be better than the correct line.
