I'm going to build an octopus trap. Three or four of them and put them in my basement.

Regular mousetraps, with the words sanded off and 'octopus trap' written in sharpie. I'm going to set them in out-of-the-way spots in the basement. Don't want the cat getting hurt.
For bait I will wire a quarter to each trigger thingie. Maybe drill holes in the quarters and wire them up that way.

You see, in thirty or forty years (max), my wife and I will both be dead and my son and his wife will have to clean out our house to sell it. They will find the octopus traps and say "what the fuck, dad," to each other.
