Just buy an ugly stick at walmart and go fishing instead.

Hunting is backbreaking labor, wake up at midnight to get juiced up on coffee and load the gear up and leave by 1 am. Hike in through brutal terrain for hours to get to a spot you have to wait perfectly still in for hours while things chew on you and the weather beats you half senseless. It better be private land or you'll have hundreds of people shooting at every sound and shadow they hear or see. And god forbid you actually shoot a deer or something because then you have to rope it up and drag that fucker out of there.

If you can't or don't want to get a firearm, you could get a bow, but expect to pay over a grand for something that isn't a janky piece of shit and over 2 grand for a nice one...plus add 20 or 30 pounds on to your back for the tree stand.

Just....don't go hunting. It's not like there's any lack of food around.

Actually, I'm not one to talk, my nephew is a hunting guide in Montana.

Side note: I just remembered this anecdote.. He went out to hunt wild boar last week (wild boar are an invasive species out there and they are getting out of control) He took a group out with night vision goggles and AK-47s

Rather than shotgun, have you considered archery? WAY less assholes in the woods, exercises a bunch of muscles, and there's a kinda golf-like shooting game you can play at your local club to practice!

If this is the type of hunting where the rifles have silencers and you're shooting out of the bed of a pick up truck because your state doesn't give a fuck because they're hogs then this is the only type of hunting I would recommend to anyone.

I just found out this afternoon it was actually in South Carolina. It seems one of his millionaire clients flew him there to conduct the hunt. I doubt they were fully automatic rifles, but hey, what do I know?

Everyone is correctly making fun of how terrible it is, but there is something I have noticed in a lot of the comments around it. You can't help but see people say this:

"Oh, this definitely isn't the fault of the designer. What we do is make several logos and we make some bad ones to "steer" the client in the direction toward the ones we think are good by making bad ones."

Which is astounding. What other industry 1. Intentionally does shitty work when requested* and 2. Has a built-in excuse for every single piece of bad design in the world? The rest of us working our jobs should be so lucky. "Oh, that's not really a bug with your web app. That was put in there so you wouldn't notice other bugs later."

Okay, one other example I can think of is when John Romero had a publishing deal with Eidos. They came up with some game they didn't like and wanted to submit it to Eidos to "burn an option," as I guess Eidos had options on the games that Romero's company Ion Storm made. Not exactly the same but similar.

30 years after getting kicked out of paper and pulp science, the tide has turned as there are no paper products left on the stores.

I'm at home and my dad got a new phone. He's trying to activate his new phone through T-Mobile and going through absolute hell.

He's been at it for two hours.

He has like 3 passwords or verbal PINs he has to give them. Every single person he has spoken to talks at LIGHTSPEED. He's 76 and they are rattling off questions and shit for him to write down and BARRELING on ahead.

They are obviously trying to get him off the call because I'm sure he's ruining their call times but all these craven scum are doing is passing him off to their co-workers.

And he's trying to do the simplest thing possible. Use a new phone.

It's taking over a half hour to figure out how to create a sale on Steam.

Their UI and UX is the absolute worst in the history of games and they don't get nearly enough shit for it.

How the fuck is it not "Click on Game, Click on Sale, Enter discount".

There is a gal that cuts my hair and I won't let anyone else do it and her place closed for two weeks. I was already in desperate need of one. Where I am going with this is that I may need to take matters into my own hands and that means, finally ... once again, a bowl cut.

Bzzzt. Sorry, but this is not the case. Silencers are regulated the same as sawed-off shotguns. They require an application for federal tax stamp (technically equivalent to a license), payment of a $200 fee, and wait for the BATFE to approve the application, which takes about 9 months to a year. And I am aware of this because I had applied to get a firearms dealer license five years ago.

Would you care to name which state or states allow this? A quick Google search keeps coming up with state laws prohibiting firing a gun or hunting from vehicles. Let me report a few.
Virginia: § 18.2-286. Shooting in or across road or in street.

If any person discharges a firearm, crossbow, slingbow, arrowgun, or bow and arrow in or across any road, or within the right-of-way thereof, or in a street of any city or town, he shall, for each offense, be guilty of a Class 4 misdemeanor.
Shooting while on or across (or hunting from) a highway is also unlawful in Texas (790.15), Montana (61-8-369), Mississippi (§ 97-15-13), Oklahoma (§29-5-204), Idaho ( 36-1508(a)), and Wyoming (§ 23-3-305).

This is the best news I had all day. In my line of work the constant Chrome changes that aren't backwards with automation drivers means a lot of extra work. They could never update Chrome again as far as I am concerned.

I don't know, I saw it on an episode of 60 Minutes once and it looked fun, unlike actual hunting which isn't.

Are suppressors different than silencers? I thought silencers were illegal in the US.

Same thing. They're called silencers, that's what the manufacturers call them, that's what the government calls them, that's what the military calls them, but there are gaming autists that go "technically they don't silence anything, they just suppress the noise by a certain amount of decibels" that call them suppressors. Most states they are legal to purchase brand new with a tax stamp and transfer - something like a 6 month background check with a mountain of paperwork and a 200 dollar fee and you have to have the paperwork with you all the time, I'm not really sure on the details but it's a lot of hassle.
