Anyone heard of crossout.net? Vehicle building then race/fight game. Saw a Youtube ad about it, looks cool. Right up my alley of building my own stuff but looks like you can get right into the action.

Ok. It's fine. If I had to grab one game I'd go Jagged Alliance III. But Starfield is fine, CO.

Starfield is excellent, but a major time sink.

I see you reviewed it as "boring" after 6 hours. I think a lot of people have!

I think the only people that really enjoyed this game were nerds. Like nerds in the respect of they like the boring aspects of space. People complained about how barren most of the worlds were.. whereas I spent hours just wondering around looking at fucking rocks to see what all elements they contained. Staring at various aliens and seeing what all I could harvest from them. Thinking about what all was going on.

That's probably part of the problem. Unless you were like me and spent hours just staring at things on the screen and thinking about them I can't see how it would be a very enjoyable game. Shit, Star Citizen looks cool and is completely dynamic rather than having loading screens between areas.. but it can be pretty damn boring too unless you are super into dog-fighting or whatever.

As dumb as it sounds.. I kind of view Starfield as a "playable space opera" rather than a traditional game. I would say there are some concepts and depictions of outer space in the future cooler than were presented in most Star Wars movies. The "Grav Drive" concept for example is based on a real scientific theory. Stress on theory, but still.. it's cool to think about. It has a wild story and TONs of stuff to do on the side as meaningless as it as; like building up planetary or lunar outpost bases. I think it has potential to have a lot more going on like Skyrim as far as more detailed and meaningful content if more is released for the game as promised by the company.. but we'll see.

For now, after slightly 100 hours on my first play through I beat the game earlier tonight, backed up my saves for another day, and uninstalled the game.

I thought I wrote a reply to this but I don't see it.

Bethesda employees were going around and arguing with people that left reviews. One of the things they said, and I can't find it, was along the lines of "Starfield is certainly not boring! Was Neil Armstrong bored when he stepped foot on the moon? I think not!"

I think it's pointless to argue with reviewers and the smug, shitty way Bethesda was doing it was pretty damn cringeworthy too. I want to say they figured out some way to close these discussions on Steam so that they got the last word, which is pretty bitchmade. In reality, Starfield was no more or less than most anything else I played in 2023. If I pick it up again, it's just because the gameplay flow of Fallout 3 and 4 where you go to a new Bethesda area and everyone inside the new Bethesda area is trying to kill you, so you shoot them and they try to eat you is .............................. acceptable. Sometimes I am just in the mood for it. But it's also the same thing over and over again and Starfield does not have VAPS.

But nobody from Bethesda wanted to argue with me. :(
