Google image searches tell us that Florida-style pizza is... I dunno, looks like a deep-fried calzone. That article didn't mention anywhere in it (or showed) that it was deep-fried. Also that article had exclamation marks in it.
Other popular styles are Detroit (in a steel pan, sauce on top) and, arguably the best one, New Haven (peccorino instead of mozz, blackened, crispy thin crust).
I gotta get back, I gotta get back to Rochester and just eat pizza for a week. God, that is amazing and I can't get it or anything like it out here. :(
Pizza is so bad in Everett, WA that Little Caesars (stuffed crust is less salty than the Hut) and frozen pizzas (done up) have become acceptable. I will say that frozen pizza has gotten way better in the last 20 years that I've mostly avoided it, even Safeway brand is acceptable.

Or your standards (and taste buds) have deteriorated that badly over the years that they are now acceptable.

I gotta tell you.. Wegmans brand frozen pizza is pretty amazing. If I lived anyplace other than Rochester that only had shitty pizza, I would eat Wegmans frozen pizza constantly.
