BLAH-hahahahaha!! Ho Ho Ho!

Look, I was asking because you're the only person I know that can give me info on the game. Don't be a baby. I am GENUINELY interested in it.

Right now, I spend about a half hour twice a week playing video games. Maybe after the 26th I will have a little more time to catch up on what was once a relaxing hobby. I'm currently going through Morrowind, again, which I neither hate or... well, which I do not hate as much as I once did. I installed a Pet Store mod, and there are 110 pets for sale. They will fight with you. I plan on buying 110 pets and creating an army of pets to descend upon towns with.

... I just gotta walk over to where the pet store is, first. That could take me weeks.

But in the meantime: TELL ME MORE about FarCry!

Please, god dammit.

Ben, maybe next time you should post screenshots and make people really want to play the game so they can join the fun as well.

I bought it!!

It's fun so far. It's too bad Parrish is dead without so much as a "how d'ya do" because I would love to talk about FARCRY with him.

Plus! I figured out HOW TO SAVE!

yay!!!

Just since this is the Farcry thread, I have a question for Lex.

Man, I know you used to work in Game (maybe you still do) but did you ever meet a guy round 16 years of age called John Seatter, and try and persuade him to buy the game every fucking time he went in there, and if he didn't buy it, you would at least give him a demo disk?

Am I right, or am I totally talking to the wrong fucking person?

How soon do you get the binoculars? I just got picked up by a black guy on a raft. In the game, I mean.

Also:

Pinner started this thread in April of 2004.

In nigh-July 2005 I obtained a PC capable of running the game at a decent clip.

I don't know what this means, but Jesus. This is a really fun game. But honestly, you gotta have God mode available if you're me. I'm just not good at these things and hate playing the same scene over and over. I also don't think there's nearly enough health to eat.

But no matter. Me being bad at video games isn't this thing's fault. I'm four levels in and having a lot of fun.

Meanwhile, with Half-Life 2 I operated a big crane to produce a bridge and have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA where to go next. There apparently isn't a single walkthrough for HL2 in English on the Internet that has screenshots. There's a little mope asking for donations for his entirely text-based HL2 walkthrough on GameFAQs, but no English screenshot-based one.

The binoculars (in farcry) are available in the first set of huts as you start from the beginning of the game. In fact, mystery guy on the radio thing tells you they are in the hut on top of the hill.

haven't gotten past stealing a vehicle yet. I ran the buggy thing into a tree and everyone came over and wasted me. BALLS!

Yes.

Now, please describe the PC you're running it on, which runs it (and HL2) good, so I can buy one exactly like it, except just a little better so you will be jealous and angry.
Am I a hero? I really can't say. But, yes.

Far Cry = best FPS in the past few years.

Yes, better than HL2. It's especially astounding as I don't think anyone expected it to be anything more than a tech demo for their 3D engine (kind of like Doom 3.)

It's about time you played it, Jonsey!

Well, no shit, you prove that every Dukematch! wonk wonk wonk

For Far Cry, remember to use the abilities that you have that you don't have in other FPSs - especially crouch. Crouching can be extremely helpful.

I'd play it too if I could ever get my 17 year old off of it. So far it has the stealth of a Splinter Cell, the weapons of a Half-Life, the action of a Castle Wolfenstein. I need summers off!

An AMD 64 3000 processor.

Some motherboard I got locally. I accidentally bought a very, very nice MSI motherboard and it was too nice. It supported PCI Express and not AGP. I would be happy to sell this to you at way below its value if you are going to make a PC.

One gig of RAM. ValueRAM. I don't know. It had one word on it -- RAM -- and it was spelled wrong.

An nVidia 6800 AGP video card.

An Audigy 2 sound card.

Thems the specs and everything is nice and slick. Of course, you getting a better PC means you'd have to actually do something -- which you won't -- so I'm safe.

Yeah, of course you won't find a screenshot one. People expect you to CTRL+F CRANE.

I think you need to drive up a ramp in that warehouse that the bridge you made led you to. You can pick up your Jeep too, if you didn't know.

http://www.uhs-hints.com/uhsweb/hints/halflife2/13.php Is way more logical that a normal text based one at least.

Yeah, I can't get the thing to pick up the buggy. It has a section of metal corridor attached to it that I can't get rid of and it won't magnetize and pick up anything new.

A bug???

No, I think they actually coded magnetism.

You could drive the buggy in the corridor and lift it that way.

Worm... that's brilliant!

That's the most intelligent thing you've ever said. That's one of the top 10 intelligent things anyone has EVER said. Holy shit, I can't believe I didn't think of that. Jesus.

Thank you, Worm. Seriously, you're the only guy who is able to get me back to playing HL2.
