Jonsey was complaining he didn't have pictures around. I don't have that problem;
No, you certainly don't have that problem.
Will there be a cabinet in the new storm cellar? And If so, which machine will it be?

No room for a cabinet, but a flat screen would work perfectly. And if I can put a flat screen in there, why not hook a console up to it?
Which is kind of like saying, "hey while I'm back here, I might as well stick it in this other hole, too."

I'm gonna need a question rating, though.

Well it started off silly, but led to a real answer, which then allowed me to work in an anal joke. So that makes it a GREAT QUESTION!

OK, I paid Flack for Gauntlet II and I am calling NAVL tomorrow so they can set up shipping with him. I don't know how we got to this point in this god forsaken shit pit of a thread, but here we are. Flack's cool, the red valkyrie is cool, the rest of you are ON NOTICE.

The only serious problem you might have is if you laid down the gauntlet.

If they do the 2-for-1 shipping, are you taking Centipede as well?

Aghh, I never specified with you! Let me do it this way: I can basically afford to get one game sent immediately, and I know Gauntlet 2 is giant piece of fuck that I wouldn't want to move to a new home if I were in your shoes.
The savings isn't that great for them to ship two games, so let me pause on Centipede for now if that's cool. If you end up coming this way for work, I'll buy Centipede from you then*. If you know that you are NOT coming this way for work, then I'll have Centipede shipped at that time. Either way as soon as you know your work schedule, I'll be in a position to get it out of your hair.
*I am assuming you don't have to have a trailer hooked to your car to move Centipede. If this is false, then other actions will be taken. Because your primary mission is to be able to do your job, not cart stuff around for an arcade knob like myself.

That all sounds good.
Also, I have a spare control panel for Gauntlet. It's actually not for Gauntlet II, it's for some other game, but it has 4 Atari-style joysticks mounted on it. Those joysticks are (or at least were) expensive to replace.
I'm going to have to go out and look, but I assume there's puh-LEN-ty of room inside that cabinet to throw this extra control panel -- or, if not, at least a small box containing the spare joysticks. I may have to put them inside a box and tape it up real good inside there, but I doubt NAVL has any kind of rules against putting additional parts inside the cabinets they ship, as long as it's not drugs or a corpse.
I like how this plan is coming together. If every active member of Jolt Country buys at least 4 arcade games from me, this would help out a lot.

I just wanna point out that you're welcome to fly into STL and stay the night before driving a rental vehicle to Springfield and thence to Denver.

God, the sheer fucking pointlessness. Who has time for this nonsense? Music publishers make way too much fucking money. Pirate all audio, support all unsigned bands.

Thanks. We need to all make another trip out to the 1984 arcade someday, but I'm not sure I could pull it off till next summer.

Cool, cool - yeah, whichever is easiest and most feasible. If it's the whole CP, great. If it's just the joysticks, that is also great. That saves me a ton of money.
I really am going to get it working 100% before I bring it down stairs. I say that with every game, except the last few have worked with no trouble. This time, I can easily see myself messing that up if I don't take the time to restore it before it goes downstairs.

"Take me Home," by Phil Collins.

I'm doing my part.

Like I said, it needs that one video cable looked at. When it's good, the game works 100%. When it's bad, all the sprites are missing every other line. I'll take a picture of the wire in question but it's one of those things you can fix in 2 minutes (I think) and I just never did it.
I think the side art is in good shape, or at least decent shape. I'll take some pictures tomorrow when I wheel it out to the garage.
I seem to remember the joysticks that are in there working, but feeling loose and worn, so you may want to swap those out.

Cool. Is there some fluid people suggest leaving old metal items in? Simple Green or something? Vark might know the answer to this. Vark. Vaaaaaaaark! How do you get metal clean?

Try plain white vinegar. Let it soak for a while or even overnight. It's much better than toxic chemicals and truly natural.

Any type of mild acetic liquid will work fairly well on everything except aluminum, which you wouldn't need to clean in the first place. And there's always steel wool and elbow grease.

I'd suggest trying the mildly abrasive sponges they sell in dollar stores before going to steel wool. This way you cannot scratch it - I use them to clean the non-stick surface of my grill - and then if trying it for a bit doesn't work, then go to steel wool.
Or, cut it open and cut the mild abrasive surface to fit the pad area on a sander or polisher and try low speed.
