Am I the only person who was immediately turned off by the first 15 minutes of the pilot? The "rich play boy finds himself in horrible circumstances and is forced to hone his instincts" bit has been used a few times before...

Guess maybe I should stick it out and give the series a shot.

I don't mind having it on in the background for the first season so I can get to the second, where everyone says that it's pretty good. It's fine at this point.

Though yeah, halfway into the first season I am starting to not give a shit about the problems of rich people, when they have created all their own problems.

I guess my other big criticism is that there is absolutely no reason that any of them should stick around this city. The writers have not given us a single "cool" thing about the city. Nothing like garbage plates, Skyline chili or a tornado alley or people that wear cheese hats on game day. I chalk this up to the writers all living in LA, which has no personality.

But that's his origin and it has been since 1941. That's like saying, can't Superman come from a different planet?? haha

I wish I could punch whoever writes the IT Girl's dialogue in the face. "It's nice having you inside me. But by inside me I meant my ear and by " JESUS CHRIST.

I am sure the guy writing for her goes home at night proud of how quirky and wacky he is and how good he is at his job.

Name dropping is all they do. They name drop every other sentence. That is the most annoying thing about season one. If you have a deep knowledge of the DC universe it kinda drives you insane. And even when I don't know what a name is, I would google it and figure out who it was. It's almost always somebody.

The worst is Diggle. Andrew Diggle is the guy who wrote Green Arrow Year One. I was like oh, that's cute. But then they also had Andrew Diggle as one of the names on Deadshot's hitlist. You can't name drop the same guy twice!

They handled it a bit more tastefully with the Batman films (namely making his time away from life as he knows it matter) and that portion of the show felt rushed (five minutes, a few random arrows and then they cut to a news feed about him being rescued).

I'm going to give the show a chance, but there was no hook to draw me in.

I know I already said it, but I don't care, this post is about what's pleasurable for me, not anyone else. The Green Arrow thunking guys in the chest with these fuck-off arrows never gets old. Ha!

That's only because you quit. haha. It's waaaaay more than that! They go back and forth between present day and what happened on the island in EVERY episode. It's telling two different storylines at once that converge every once in a while. Chronologically, in the island section, he still hasn't mastered the bow in the least.

The original plan was for the show to run five years. That would show his entire 5 years on the island. While the modern five years would show his journey from being the angry vigilante to being the bonafide superhero Green Arrow.

But now that it's doing so well, for the CW at least, and they're building up all these other shows around it, that 5 year plan is probably dust and it's going to go until it runs out of gas.

BTW. DC/CW is developing a live action version of Young Justice for 2015. Throw another one on the pile!

OK, if this is what TV is doing now I demand a Luke Cage series. And I DEMAND that he yell "Sweet Christmas!" as often as possible, but no less than once an episode.

The Luke Cage series is going to be direct to Netflix in 2015 along with Daredevil, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones and The Defenders.
