My brother and his wife are on their way to Alaska for a vacation. They board the connecting flight in Chicago. One of the passengers has a youngster and a cat in a carrier. The woman insists on taking the cat out of the carrier and holding it on her lap before takeoff. The crewmember explains that she isn't allowed to do that and that she also doesn't have permission to even have the animal on board. The woman explains that she has these papers... The crew member says those are for the child, not the cat. There is the expected Karen argument and eventually the little girl is in tears and they escort the woman, the girl and the cat off the plane. (total time about 45 min wasted)

My brother calls out: "Who let the cat out of the bag!" as they take off. I guess there is a round of applause and general laughter.

Air travel has turned into a Mexican bus ride in the sky.

Oh yeah, and anyone that holds up a flight departing is worse than Mohamad Atta. Say what you will about the 9/11 terrorists, they were eager to get the flight going and hit the ground early.

Anyone who intentionally holds up a flight like that should have to run the gauntlet... just down the middle aisle while everyone hits them with in flight magazines and tiny, 4oz bottles of shampoo.

The only stuff created by Pearl Jam that isn't completely awful was roughly half of the Vitology album (no radio shit). Everything else they created is fucking awful. Their fans are worse.

Still feel slightly bad about the chick I dissed when I was 13 living in King because she wore Pearl Jam shirts. She probably assumed it was because she was fat which was far from the truth.. I just couldn't get around the Pearl Jam thing lol

- What did Cobain think of Pearl Jam?

"Cobain frequently criticised Pearl Jam, believing that they had simply adopted the aesthetics of the underground scene when they cottoned on to its popularity. In his eyes, they lacked originality and were little more than a commercial rock band dressed up in ripped jeans and leather jackets."

LOL I've always felt the same way. Another reason for hating them is their fans booing Sonic Youth off the stage for opening around 2006 I think it was. Who the fuck boos Sonic Youth aside from yet another one of Thurstan Moore's thrown away groupies?

The only thing worse than Pearl Jam is Pearl Jam fans. Vitology seemed to be their only break from "the formula" despite "Immortality" being played way too much on the radio at the time. However, for me Vitology still seemed like a desperate attempt to bring some Fugazi "In on the Kill Taker" originality style into it. Also, a "harder" style that didn't even seem that hard or weird to me back then. It was just slightly more tolerable.

Gotta give Eddie Vedder credit for being the only frontman for any of those grunge bands that didn't kill himself or OD.

What a narcissist. That's why I think that crazy broad killed him. Cobain was utterly in love with his own stupid opinions, he never would have killed himself.

Huh, upon further research, looks like Kurt Cobain DID invent the rock star look of ripped jeans and leather jackets and also apparently time machines.

Unfortunate. I feel this wouldn't have happened if he was on patrol for a sports team that had won it all before, like the Dodgers.

Last May I went to the local mom and pop guitar place to get my acoustic 12 string attended. It's got a hairline crack in the neck and the bridge needs professional work. They said their repair guy is on vacation for the month of June, try back in July. Ok I can wait a month, no big deal.
I took it back last Thursday. They said nope, not taking any repair work, try back maybe end of August.

I'm not going back there. One of the downsides of patronizing a high end, part time mom and pop guitar store is they only work when they feel like it. Store is only open three days a week, Wednesday thru Friday. They sure don't need the money and they dont sell junk.

I ended up doing the luthier work myself by trial and error and YouTube videos

I bought a television to hang on the wall and act as an auxiliary monitor in my office. I was going to build a small shelf to set the television on, but my wife said it would be better to purchase a TV wall mount and use that. The mount arrived this morning and 30 seconds before installing it, my wife said the TV is going to be too high on the wall and I should move a monitor and/or lower the hutch on my desk. I just finished cutting my hutch down from 9" to 5". Before I do anything else I will go get my wife's approval. I know it sounds like I'm complaining but she has been right about every single part of this process. But I am also complaining.

I wish to post some audio clips in the Old News thread to jazz it up a little. Are there any recommendations for a free hosting site? I'm looking at Sndup as a starting point.
