Re: Pinback's #YOLO Solo Fatass Challenge
Tonight during my waterpark "slide testing" shenanigans, the 2 other employees that were there with me late weighed themselves and said "yeah, that's what I was expecting." Being extremely curious as it's been many years since I checked, I got on the scale and it read..
142 pounds. I've weighed about 155 since I was 14 years old aside from getting up to 165-170 a while when I was mostly at a desk and mostly eating take-out, so my mind was slightly blown.

My first milestone today. 30 minutes non-stop running. About 4km (2.5 miles.) Queue the Rocky music!

To work off the beer and whisky, I managed to do this twice in a row today. 30m running, 5m recovery walking, and another 30m running. Next goal is 1 hour continuous running. It's probably gonna take a while to get to that.

Well, it didn't take that long. 1h 15m. So I guess I will now move on to speed, not just time.

On Thurs. I was weighed on the lift machine ("Hoya Lift"). Previous weight 367.2 lbs. New weight: 365.0, meaning since about two weeks or so, I've lost 2 pounds. And I'm not making any changes to my diet. Yeah, it's not much, but for the last 4-6 weighings, the number keeps dropping.

Apparently I need more protein. My legs are getting really sore. It was really weird going to one of those gym bro stores. I bought 1kg of protein supplement and got the fuck out. I felt like buying a dildo from a sex shop.

Yeah man. If you burn a lot of calories per day, especially if you are burning more than you are consuming then you need more steaks and such. Eating something like a huge plate of Mexican food after hours of yard work for me is basically a requirement as a scrawny man.. otherwise I can't fucking move and feel like complete ass the next day.RealNC wrote: Sat Nov 11, 2023 8:58 am Apparently I need more protein. Also, as an ex- "jujitsu-bro", I hate health and gym bros. Vitamins and such are cool but beyond that STFU.

I don't know how the gym bros like this stuff so much, because it tastes like used socks.

And this evening about 6, I was weighed again.Tdarcos wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 3:27 pm On Thurs. I was weighed on the lift machine ("Hoya Lift"). Previous weight 367.2 lbs. First it was 348.8, but it fluctuated, then it stabilized, meaning the number went up. it is now:
349.0

Where are you getting gaining weight? I said my weight was 367.2. Later I said it was 365.0, and now 349. How do you translate lower weight into a gain?Ice Cream Jonsey wrote: Wed Dec 06, 2023 5:50 pm How are you gaining weight in there? Not an insult but just, how?

Hm. I noticed that more women want to start discussions with me now and they smile a lot more. I'm not imagining things. I'm not complaining either...

Re: Pinback's #YOLO Solo Fatass Challenge
Back at the beginning of COVID, I was bored stiff because nothing was open, and most of my kids' athletic stuff was cancelled. So I decided to start walking. I enjoyed it. 60 to 90 minutes per day to myself with my music (or podcasts, whatever).
Unfortunately, Rochester winters make it somewhat prohibitive to keep walking long distances, so I'd get lazy in the winter... but I really looked forward to the spring and getting out again.
I've done that for 3 1/2 years now, and didnt lose a single pound. Ensuring 5 miles and/or 10k steps per day, and it didnt shave a single pound. What a load of crap.
So I decided that this winter, I am going to start watching what I eat, and I'm going to exercise year-round.
I'm keeping track of what I eat in MyFitnessPal. Shockingly (/s), I am a terrible eater and I snack entirely too much. So I worked on that. I still eat (mostly) like crap, although I work in some fruit now, so thats good. But my snacking is almost non-existent, and I keep my calorie input below calorie output. I hear thats good for weight loss.
I also got a PlanetFitness membership. I only do a little weight training (maybe 15-20 minutes), but I do get my hour of walking in every day.
I have found that running burns more calories than walking (WHAAAT?), so I'm trying to incorporate some of that too. I hate running. I love walking, but detest walking. But I do it out of necessity.
I notice that my VO2Max is increasing this year (rather than decreasing, as it historically did every winter). So thats progress. My stamina to run is getting higher. I still hate it, but whatever.
Anyways, thats my journey. The pounds are not falling off, but they're headed in the right direction. I started around 208, I'm down to 200 after a month, and I'd LOVE to see 180 someday. It may just be a pipe dream, but we'll see.

I have bounced around over the last 15 years and yes, what you are observing is absolutely true in America.RealNC wrote: Fri Dec 22, 2023 6:34 pm Hm. I noticed that more women want to start discussions with me now and they smile a lot more. I'm not imagining things. I'm not complaining either...
