About 15 years ago, my neighbor across the street had about 20 of them around his house, including ON his garage. Was the craziest thing I seen.

Wegmans resembled an an anthill today! In fact, if the ants all wore winter coats and pushed shopping carts you couldn't tell the difference, except the ants smile more.

I tried that and I can tell you what happens. The amount of ads and suggested blubber doesn't change. It just changes from things you were probably sort of okay with to things that are less liked. I didn't think I could make my feed worse, but I did.

Huh. Then it's time to log out, again. I was dealing with the crap there in an effort to keep connected over the holidays but it's quickly becoming overwhelming. There's more flat earth garbage and AI generated conspiracy shit than is good for any sane person, and even worse for me.

My favorite is when it shows you something you don't want to see over and over and when you click to hide it you get the suggestion, "would you like to hide this page for 30 days?" That's the best they can do. It's really become a shit show. We're seeing more commercials than ever before on television, but it has been a slow increase over the past 50-60 years. It seems like every month, Facebook is cramming more and more crap into my timeline.

I would like to introduce you guys to FB Purity or Social Fixer (depending on your platform of choice). They are browser plugins/scripts that make Facebook somewhat usable again. Default your newsfeed to 'most recent' (rather than their stupid algorithm). Dont like Reels? Hide 'em. Dont like posts with the word "Rump" in them? Hide them. Dont care that Aunt Sally was tagged in Uncle Louie's status? Hide it! Etc.

I refuse to use the Facebook app on my phone. I will only use it in a proper computer browser with plugins.

lol fuck Facebook. Never had an account. Apparently now I have one automatically due to communicating with the basement arcade though? For messaging only? Fuck if I know or care.

Though I did enjoy "Russian Facebook" (VK!) for a bit before my GF was jealous of my new "friends".

I used FB Purity when I had it on my desktop, wouldn't do without it, in fact. Mostly what I was doing was posting pix so I needed it on my phone. They don't have an Android version so I was going through my browser, I wouldn't use the official app either. It's better that I just log out and not bother with it at all. My 28 friends won't notice that much.
