Anyone ever do any PICO-8? I found a DELIGHTFUL PICO-8 game yesterday (
https://slipways.net/) and I thought it might be fun to give it a go myself. Anyone try this? It's pretty fun.
Here's my PICO-8 version of Begin, after 30 minutes of HARDCORE, HEAD-DOWN DEVELOPMENT.

Oh man. Dickin' around with the sound effects/music editor could be a full-time hobby in itself...

Does it let you import graphics?

I dunno. Unlikely? It's pretty restrictive. Okay, you can import a sprite sheet as png if it's in a specific format, I'm being told.
But I drew those sprites in three minutes! You know what ships they are!

Picogalactic Fishing... Z/X are the keys for the two buttons. All we got now is a sweet splash screen and some credits, but tonight was all about getting the little waves animated, getting the title up there, etc.

How does it work? I haven't had a chance to see. Could someone re-implement Begin on it, fully?

It has a number of strict (intentional) restrictions which would make re-making Begin very challenging. However, controller-based 2D games on a 128x128 canvas, it makes very easy (and fun).

Would you be willing to make a little PICO-8 game for the video game non-profit I'm heading?

I think the current version of Picoroids (as of very early May 23rd) should be the easy mode in the completed game. It's a gas to fly around and destroy asteroids without needing to worry about anything bad ever happening. By instinct I found myself trying to swerve to avoid the asteroids even when I knew on a conscious level that they weren't a danger so I had to stop and ask myself, "What exactly is it that am I so afraid of?" I have a feeling that life is going to be better from now on.
The game is beautiful, too:

funny, I thought I was just really good at avoiding the asteroids. It took me five minutes before I realized they couldn't hurt me.
