My Asteroids board is being modified to allow it to play Asteroids Deluxe.

This is a thread where, once I have it going, we can discuss the game properly.

I have thoughts on that game, particularly vis-a-vis its predecessor, so this is an exciting thread.

I will be shooting video for this. Video will be shot. In HIGH DEFINITION.

Nice. I prefer deluxe. My friend has the real thing in his basement and I can play it on the Vectrex via the VecFever cart..

It's installed and working. The left side of the garage is actually in decent shape when it comes to arcade games. Didn't get a chance to play it for more than one life this weekend, but when I wake up tomorrow I am going to play a full game and as dusk approaches I'll shoot a video.

What's the difference between Asteroids and Asteroids Plus? More Asteroids? (That might make the game Nintendo Hard.)

It's called Asteroids Deluxe, Paul, not "Asteroids Plus". Hence the name of the thread.

My apologies, it did say "Deluxe," Okay then, the large asteroids are now gold plated! The small and the tiny are silver and bronze. I guess the next improvement is to go to "Super Asteroids," then combine for "Super Deluxe Asteroids."

Man, I am looking forward to that Vectrex stand Flack printed today! Will totally beat jamming a highlighter pen or whatever underneath it to elevate it when I set it sideways using VecFever.

Well, I shot a gigabyte of video and none of it was usable. I got to 8,000 points in Asteroids Deluxe playing like a cowboy that did not care for his own life. And I see on Twitter that Jiz dropped a score that doubled mine. The game is on.

Do I get to join this? I only have the version from the Atari arcade classics thing on Steam. Would you count that score?

Y .... yes it counts. Unless your first score is like 50,000 on the nose or something.

Well, I tried the Atari Vault version on both "Easy" (default) and "Hard", and immediately beat all of your scores on both of them, but I'd like to see video of what you're playing, just to make sure we're on a level playing field here.

I mean, like I say, I dunno if we're all playing the same version, but...

Asteroids Deluxe revision 2 MAME rom on easy mode. Easy mode is default. I am by no means an excellent Asteroids player though either.

Well, then I consider the matter closed.

This was inevitable, but fine. I couldn't play last night because it was raining but I will give Asteroids Deluxe my best shot tonight.

Oh, so I'm the bad guy now.
