In this thread, we will compete with each other to get the highest score on the classic NES Tetris.
RULES:
1. You may use whatever emulator or actual NES system you want.
2. You must play "type A".
3. You can start on any level.
4. You can rotate the pieces either direction.
5. You can pick whichever music you want, or turn the music off.
6. You can T-SPIN.
7. You must post a screenshot or video of your score to validate it.

Man, if only we had an angry, sperging shitlord around who cried like a bitch about the implementation details, I feel that would really help the thread out a bunch! OH WELL, guess we'll just use what we have in front of us because we are not all emotional infants.1. You may use whatever emulator or actual NES system you want.

I'm going to participate in this, but I feel like I'm already starting at a disadvantage because I didn't see the documentary. I've always considered Tetris a calm, meditative experience and never paid much attention to scores. Well, that changes right here and right now. I've already learned that if I want to compete with the big boys and girls I probably have to start a higher level than I normally do. Goodbye, level 0. It feels like your scores appreciate faster than the difficulty actually increases up to about level 6 or so to me.

Is cheating allowed? I usually pause the game and study where the next piece will fit before allowing it to fall. This is a form of cheating and I don't want to be disqualified because my brain is slow.

I don't know how you can do that on NES Tetris. Pausing the game clears the screen.

Right but I have a photographer from the 1920s with a flashbulb full of gunpowder and a live bird perched on the camera and I take a picture of the board every time a new piece drops and then wait 4 hours while the plates are developed.

I also think there's an AWS service you can use.

How long is this competition going to run? Once I find out a way to score another 100,000 points or so, I'll be right in the mix.

Can't do it, even with the emulator pause. The game drives me insane, like a mad Russian, after ten minutes.

It runs forever. If anyone gets a score, you can always post it.bryanb wrote: Fri Jan 07, 2022 4:54 pm How long is this competition going to run? Once I find out a way to score another 100,000 points or so, I'll be right in the mix.
Hello, me in ten years! I'm surprised you made it this long, frankly.

Good lord, I don't know how those six-figure scores are even possible! I'm coming out of the gate slow with my first effort this morning.

If I could sum up the key to you achieving high scores in four words, they would be the following:
BOOM, tetris for Flack.
BOOM, tetris for Flack.

I just spent 45 minutes getting to 50,772 on tetris dot io or whatever it is and now I see it must be NES Tetris.
