Study up, because a quiz is coming. If the denizens of this BBS don't understand the whys of the disaster and more to the point - what they could have done to stop it - then this entire BBS was a failed experiment, like how the Soviet Union was a failed state.
Watch the tv show, watch a documentary, hell, take a motorcycle through ground zero - I DON'T CARE but we will be going around the room and we aren't leaving until we all get 100% on the quiz.
I will require someone to role-play some spent rods.

Inside reactor No. 3, the chief of the night shift, Yuri Bagdasarov, wanted to shut down the reactor immediately, but chief engineer Nikolai Fomin would not allow this. The operators were given respirators and potassium iodide tablets and told to continue working.

Damn. I still remember the panic when people heard on the news that the fallout is being carried our way by the weather. People pretty much emptied out every supermarket. We filled our basement with canned foods. Even though I was too young to remember details, I do remember one thing clearly: a religious nutter on radio claiming Jesus is coming back.
